As a Registered Psychotherapist working with adults of all ages, I specialize in the treatment of trauma. Therapy provides an opportunity to discuss how symptoms such as: depression, anxiety, anger, relationship difficulties, addictions, and emotional volatility, can feel overwhelming and unmanageable. Over and over I've witnessed people using therapy to feel safer in the world, more hopeful, and better able to reach their full potential in life, work, and in relationship with themselves and others. I am an experienced, empathic therapist and I collaborate to tailor therapy to meet each client's individual needs.

I integrate somatic trauma-informed,
trauma focused
, mindfulness and various other healing modalities through a person-centered lens that honours your lived experience at a pace that's right for you.
My own journey to self discovery and healing has been the leading drive in helping others heal. I learned that trauma is a sensory experience deeply held in our bodies. Together we will use the wisdom of your body to understand your reactions to situations and their origin. The goal will be to heal the wounds that leave you anguished with feelings of guilt, shame and wrongness by building the capacity to withstand the emotional/energetic charge that happens as a result of stress or trauma. Through the use of trauma integration and processing work we will shift your relationship to the experiences you cannot change.

Hello and welcome! I'm a queer, transmasculine therapist with a background in health and community-based work, as well as in music, writing and theatre. My psychotherapy practice centres experiential strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches with the intention of increasing my clients' capacity to safely connect to themselves and to move toward ways of living that affirm them in their wholeness. I aim to be an active and supportive presence in your healing process, and to work in a way that is guided by the political frameworks I value in my everyday life: anti-oppression, anti-capitalism, harm reduction, and abolition.

With gentleness, curiosity and humour, I've walked with people at all ages and stages: facing mental illness or trauma, dealing with end of life or baby loss, embracing queer identity, living with disability. Your story is central, but talking isn't everything: some of our deepest wounds are held in realms beyond words. Because I often work with trauma and embodied pain, I draw on neurobiology-based somatic approaches like Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Brainspotting. I often use Internal Family Systems (inner parts work) and other approaches that engage clients’ creative, imaginative, and meditative sides in the service of healing.

I support individuals experiencing challenges with interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, anxiety, career stress, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My approach begins with building a therapeutic rapport to provide space for exploring, curiosity, and healing. I practice from a framework that recognizes your individual strengths, is informed by attachment, considers neuroscience research, and is cognizant of any past trauma/circumstances that brought you here. Collaboratively, we will use a combination of evidence-based strategies to manage your current concerns and foster hope and resilience.

I work with individuals experiencing feelings of disconnection, anxiety, and self-criticism. Do you ever feel like you can't live up to your own standards or those of others? As though no matter how hard you try you remain stuck or unfulfilled? In a society that promotes speed, wealth, and unrealistic standards (of beauty, relationships, even self-care!) it can be increasingly difficult to find a space in which we feel heard and validated. When life prevents you from seeing the best version of yourself, I will see it for you, bringing your strengths to the forefront of our work together.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a decade of experience with a wide variety of clients. As far as I remember, nothing has ever fascinated me more than humans; their interactions; their mentality and how they grasp the universe. I knew far too young what I was made to do and am thrilled to be in the very profession I can see myself in for the rest of my life.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $300 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
