I specialize in mental health,
trauma
, addiction, ABI, ADHD, depression, anxiety, stress, attachment issues, other emotion regulation difficulties, and mindfulness-based practice.
I'm passionate about helping and connecting with others. My wealth of clinical and front line experience provides me with expertise and practical skills not possessed by most therapists. I view each client as an expert in their own lives, largely integrating their goals in counselling. My work is inspired by the science of neuroplasticity, thus I provide education about human behaviour and brain functioning to help clients make sense of their difficulties and see their challenges from a normalizing view. Many clients find this information to be helpful, hopeful, and empowering, as it gives us a roadmap for resolving their issues.

Living in today’s world as a "big feeler", 2SLGBTQ+ person, ally, non-monogamous person, someone who uses substances, or someone who struggles with relationships, can feel exhausting and overwhelming. It can also feel hard to know who the safe supports are (the ones who won’t judge your experience or push you to embrace normative frameworks). You might be seeking support with
trauma
, anxiety, anger, inner criticism, people-pleasing, emotional dysregulation, harm reduction, identity issues, or feeling othered. Whatever your experiences are, I am proud of you for doing the brave thing of reaching out for help.

I draw from developmental and somatic theory, mindfulness, neuroscience, and employ a
trauma
-informed approach.
The focus of my work is supporting people to unearth, examine, and transform stagnant ways of being. Through exploring personal narratives, habitual responses, and the subconscious terrain, we work together to create fresh space and open to new ways of being. Sessions with me involve talk therapy with somatic exercises and hypnotherapy woven in as is supportive and appropriate. I am warm and grounded, and keep the session energy flowing through active inquiry and deep listening. Working at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you is key, and so I regularly check in to ensure that this is your experience.

I have a particular interest in working with clients who are challenged by anxiety, depression, interpersonal
trauma
/abuse, & sexual abuse/behaviour issues.
Taking the first step to begin therapy can be very challenging. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to discuss/explore any issues you are experiencing. By deepening your ability to be introspective and self-compassionate, we can explore any negative thinking patterns/habits that may be interfering with you making changes in your life. My style is warm, compassionate, empathetic, and collaborative, but also direct and solution-focused. I specialize in working with children/teens/young adults, and have experience engaging even the most reluctant young people to promote positive change.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
