I am trained in Partner and Betrayal Trauma Therapy.
You are hurt beyond belief. The person you trusted. The person that committed to you. The person who told you that they love you.... is the person that has betrayed you! This is a shocking discovery, even if it is not the first time! I understand the heart ache, the confusion and the difficulty in trying to navigate your present pain and work towards re-grounding yourself and healing.

Maybe you're here because you are struggling in your primary relationship; having the same old arguments with your partner, feeling disconnected & longing for more intimacy, or dealing with a difficult life event, such as a betrayal . Perhaps you're looking for help because you are feeling stressed out, anxious, and are tired of being so hard on yourself. Or maybe you're having a difficult time relating to family members or friends - feeling misunderstood by parents, feeling at sea with how to relate to your kids, or not developing the meaningful friendships you hoped for. The focus of my work is helping people with relationships.

When life begins to feel challenging and overwhelming, it can be difficult to create space for calm and stillness. We may even seek to avoid the quiet altogether, fearing the thoughts that arise or the emotions we keep buried beneath the surface. It often feels easier to distract ourselves from our thoughts or to numb and detach from the challenging emotions that inevitably emerge. Therapy can provide us with a space to turn inward and deeply connect with ourselves, allowing us to bring awareness to our patterns, better understand our needs, move towards acceptance, or even work towards change.

Making sense of your behaviours and experiences can help you become a better version of yourself. Life and the relationships we form have a way of launching feelings and experiences our way that we're not always prepared to handle. Guilt that haunts our past, buried beliefs that enhance anxieties or despair that paralyzes us from moving forward can create negative behaviours, feelings, and thoughts. The way you live and approach your life can be shifted into a more positive direction to allow you to increase your self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-awareness. Be a better version of yourself.

Infidelity Counsellors

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
