By integrating different approaches into my work, I have supported various marginalized communities such as queer and trans folx.
My name is Alex Zebeljan and I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I offer individual and couples therapy virtually. As a therapist, my goal is that you feel seen, heard, and valued regardless of your sexuality, gender, ethnicity and beliefs. During each session, I endeavour to create a virtual space wherein you can discover and be your most authentic self. When working with clients, I value collaboration and incorporating culturally respectful techniques into my work. You are the expert on what you need and want and I can help you get there, whatever that end result might look like for you.

Does therapy feel too formal or rigid for you? Are you looking for a connection with a therapist who feels warm, open and familiar? Hi! My name is Charlotte and I am the practice owner at Positive Space Consulting, a psychotherapist and a registered social worker. Being queer and disabled myself, I know how many of us feel disconnected from our families, coworkers, and communities. I know how exhausting it can be to navigate the medical system, school system and other oppressive systems and sometimes you just need to share space with someone else who gets it! Capitalism, patriarchy and white supremacy are exhausting!

Many of my clients are queer , though I am open to working with anyone.
I have a special interest in relationships; understanding how we come to relate with ourselves and one another, and the ways this connects with our unique world-views, beliefs, and life’s meaning. Together we will co-create our therapeutic relationship, valuing authenticity and creativity. And in the therapy room we might explore grief and bereavement, life transitions, queerness, anxiety, depression, and understanding emotions and identity. My style starts with a trauma-informed approach, and I draw on techniques from narrative therapy, internal family systems, and mindfulness-based therapy.

As a queer person, I am familiar with this experience and understand.
I am currently not accepting new clients but please reach out if you need referral advice. You might be here because you are searching for someone to help you with how you're feeling. You may feel anxious, depressed, stressed, like you don't measure up, or stuck and are hoping to find a compassionate listener. Perhaps you're dealing with big life transitions, issues between you and your partner(s), marginalization, interpersonal conflict, finding your purpose, or competing priorities. Bringing any of this to therapy can be scary. There is profound healing power in being courageous, listened to, validated, and encouraged.

My lived experience as a queer woman is deeply important to me.
Do you feel like you don’t know how to ask for help, or feel like you have no one to turn to? Do you feel like there’s a part of your identity that you need to explore? Have you tried other therapists before and it felt too stuffy or like you didn’t ‘click’? Hi, I’m Steph and I see you, thank you for being here. I am here to remind you that it is okay to be feeling exactly how you feel, all of your feelings are valid. I bring my whole self to our sessions with a grounded, curious and kind demeanor and really focus on fostering a genuine therapeutic relationship with you. I believe that therapy should feel less clinical and formal.

As a queer , non-binary, neurodivergant social worker, I can appreciate how isolating things can feel at times and that lack of belonging is a system issue.
What do you think when you think of therapy? Are you looking for a therapist who is warm, open, and wants to support you exactly where you are at? When you think of connecting with a therapist, what are some of your hopes? My name is Adrian and I want to provide an open and collaborative space where we can connect about issues you are facing. Things such as grief, depression, anxiety, systemic oppression, not feeling accepted, transitions, and maybe an overall feeling that things are harder than they could be.

My training and lived experience allows me to support a diverse set of clients, including immigrants, queer folks, and those navigating relational and intergenerational trauma.
Are you experiencing feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, grief and other overwhelming emotions? Are you navigating the lasting effects of trauma and its impact your identity and relationships? Often our symptoms are part of survival mechanisms that helped us in the past. Unfortunately, they can lead to unwanted behaviours in our present lives that can cause us shame and self-loathing. What you really deserve is compassion and care towards your pain. It takes a great deal of courage to embark on a path of healing and growth, and I consider it a privilege to work along side you throughout your journey.

As a queer South Asian woman, I hope to provide mental health services to individuals from diverse communities, particularly those from cultures that do not have a keen awareness of mental health, such as my own.
I believe that no one is immune to life's challenges and variabilities. Hopelessness, anxiety, fear, and other negative emotions can become overwhelming, affecting our overall wellness, leaving us exhausted. I help my clients overcome these difficult emotions by providing a non-judgmental, affirming and safe environment that respects boundaries and offers the space they require for their healing process.

I have considerable experience working in the corporate world and am a gay man.
Sorry, NO longer accepting new clients; currently inactive. We're all on a journey to become our best selves... but most of us can't accomplish that alone. Therapy helps people who are stuck in their suffering break through to more satisfying ways of being and ways of relating to others. I can help you develop greater mastery in addressing a wide variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem and shame, stress, grief/bereavement, relationship dissatisfaction, sexual identity, substance use, and lack of purpose or meaning in life.

As a queer woman with lived experience navigating mental health support, I know how transformative the therapy process can be when someone feels seen and empowered. I understand that feeling when something is off, when we aren’t fully in alignment with ourselves and how those feelings can impact the way that we show up in our lives. You may find yourself reacting in ways that don’t feel like you or find yourself having anxious thoughts or feeling like you’re stuck in patterns that aren’t serving you. I help young professionals on their journey to living a life where they feel supported, confident, and in alignment with their values.

As a queer woman, I'm passionate about offering supports for the LGBTQ + community in a comfortable space.
I understand the feeling of struggling to exist as your genuine self in a world that feels against you, in an environment that feels suffocating, and in a relationship that feels unendurable. Our lives do not exist in a bubble, and our experiences are impacted by the intersecting identities each of us hold. When we reach out for help, we are hoping that someone can understand us and hold space for our stories. I work with people every day who are looking for support in understanding how they can live congruently with their own values and core beliefs.

I identify as trans non-binary and queer , and welcome members of queer and trans communities.
My approach to therapy is practical, creative, humorous, and interactive. Engaging in therapy is a vulnerable and courageous step, and I aim to foster a comfortable, collaborative process. When the tools and skills that were previously helpful are no longer working, I support clients to cultivate new coping skills, and identify potential areas for change and/or acceptance.

How can I find a therapist in West Toronto, Toronto?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $300 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
