I support clients facing end-of-life distress, life threatening/ chronic illness as well as high performers who suddenly feel a loss of self, fear and anxiety after an injury or medical diagnosis.
Take a deep belly breath. Exhale - slowly. All of you is welcomed here. There is a lot out there telling us what our bodies should do and should look like. This can create a very strained relationship with ourselves and make it hard to feel good in our own skin. Our bodies hold memories that influence how we act and interact with the world around us. This can perpetuate negative feelings and behaviours. The journey to healing comes through processing and working through our body's store memories to come to a wholeness, comfort and confidence within ourselves.

Are you having trouble coping with a new or existing diagnosis? The experience of being diagnosed with a chronic illness can be highly overwhelming and isolating, but it doesn’t have to remain that way. As someone who faces the complexities of autoimmune disease and chronic illness , I understand the importance of proper mental healthcare and the tools needed to overcome the challenges faced by chronic disease. Aside from personal experience, my training and education help me to specialize in chronic disease, with a focus on digestive-related disorders (IBS, IBD - Crohn's & Colitis, etc.).

You are on your way to deeper growth. I know because you are on this site, actively looking for support. Well done, you. Although, right now it may still feel a little rough. Fair enough. Being human is hard. Regardless of your very human issue: trauma from the past; stuckness in life; relationship issues; out of control anxiety and stress; chronic illness ; career struggles; or just feeling lost and confused, the key to moving forward lies within you. Looking inward to see your own values and beliefs is the beginning to accessing your strengths to continue to grow and thrive.

“It could be worse,” “At least this isn’t as bad as what (fill in the blank) is going through,” “You’re not tired, you’re lazy,” “I’ve been in worse situations before,” “I’m lucky, I have a roof over my head and food on the table, so stop complaining," “Other people are going through this and making it work, I should be able to, too.” Have you been saying these things to yourself? You’re not the only one. I’ve had clients tell me how they’re feeling and what they’ve been doing that “should” work but hasn’t and they have no idea why or how everyone else is seemingly coping better under the same circumstances.

Grief can be completely devastating, and perhaps one of the most difficult things you may face in life. Grief is also a normal, human response to having loved and lost, and normal in the face of any loss, not just loss due to death. Grief is not a pathological problem in need of "fixing", but instead requires compassionate care, witness, and empathic support. It requires a safe space for its expression, and so do you. Whatever type of loss you are experiencing, your grieving heart needs extra TLC. There is nothing wrong with needing a little extra help or seeking the guidance of a counsellor at such a difficult time.

The decision to begin therapy can be an unnerving experience, and the first step can be daunting, to say the least. Therapy can be part of a transformative journey of inner exploration to gain insight into your thoughts, emotions, past experiences and relationship dynamics. Our goal in working together is to facilitate the development of more self-compassion, flexibility in your coping strategies and empowerment to abide by your personal values and your true self. I desire to help clients successfully navigate life’s many challenges through an understanding of themselves, recognizing their strengths and learning new skills.
