I enjoy working with folks who are looking to heal from childhood/developmental trauma, complex PTSD, chaotic substance use, personality disorders, and struggles related to being queer, transgender , and/or non-binary.
Therapy doesn't have to be scary! I know first-hand what it can be like to suffer in silence, longing for change, & struggling to find someone who "gets" you. If you grew up in a home where you didn't get the support that you needed, if you went through something that you feel like you have never recovered from, or if you feel like a black sheep everywhere you go, I would be happy to co-create a non-judgmental healing space where you feel seen, heard, & valued. We can work on things like learning to understand yourself, re-gaining control of your life, & appreciating the parts of you that have clawed you out of your darkest times.

In order to facilitate insight and cultivate empowerment, I work to support my clients in adopting mental wellness, exploring identity formation, understanding intergenerational trauma, navigating issues related to body image and gender dysphoria , and negotiating interpersonal relationships.
As a queer Trini-Canadian psychotherapist, I combine my training in psychology with my intersectional feminist values and lived experience when supporting my clients. I specialize in working with LGBTQ and BIPOC (racialized) clients as well as intersectional identities. In addition to expertise in culturally-sensitive therapy, I'm also well-versed in issues related to queer and trans health, polyamory / non-monogamy, and kink / BDSM culture.

Quick bio: I am biracial (Blackandwhite), transgender , queer and poly.
Therapy can sometimes feel difficult. It can be painful to look at how other people or institutions have affected our lives, or at how we have affected other people's. It is no mystery that relationships are complicated, but we can try to talk about them. We can start the process of unwinding your life, so that we can really look at it. Focusing on your needs is not selfish, despite the messaging we receive. Your life is valuable and it absolutely matters.

I have received training to provide assessments and referrals for transgender clients.
Many of us face times in our lives when we need support to get through difficult periods. I see psychotherapy as a safe space to explore yourself, gain self-insight and understanding, and develop tools and resources to face the ups and downs of life. Since 2011, I have had the chance to work with adults with various needs and challenges. I have supported clients to work through relationship difficulties, repetitive patterns that were no longer serving them, anxiety, depression, painful emotions related to present or past events (including traumas), self-esteem issues, grief and loss, and adjustment to chronic illness.

I work with clients who are undergoing any experience that might be called 'transformation.' Sometimes transformation is forced upon us by external events, and sometimes we are called to it from within. Either way, it can be a difficult process to navigate alone. My aim is to provide clients with a compassionate, empowering, and insight-evoking space in which they can process pain and grow into their truest self. I welcome clients from all walks of life who feel that they would benefit from a more embodied and imaginative approach to therapy.

I work exclusively with autistic and queer & trans neurodivergent people. As an autistic, trans & queer therapist, I don't ‘treat’ autism or gender divergence. I treat the trauma caused by neurodisablism & sanism, cissexism & heterosexism. Instead of helping you to “fit in” to neurotypical culture, I support you to diverge: to find your other way, and find your way to others. Together we can turn the tables on disablement & pathologization from the inside out and the outside in.

I value anti-oppressive, person-centered approaches to therapy & believe the relationship is at the core of your process. I currently support folks 16 years old & above. With sharing the therapeutic space, I aim to provide space to be wholeheartedly yourself. I take a strengths-based, collaborative approach in working toward your therapeutic goals. I recognize the gaps in mental health care that 2SLGBTQ+ folks face (regardless of folks whom are out to everyone, out to some, not out at all, don’t want to come out, questioning etc.) and aim to ensure folks are able to unapologetically be themselves.

How can I find a therapist in Central Toronto, Toronto?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $300 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
