Although I'm open to working with all people, I specialize in supporting individuals with relationship concerns, ADHD and autism,
men's issues
and mood & emotional concerns.
I shape my approach to my clients' needs and circumstances, as no two people lead the same lives. To almost everyone however, therapy can offer a judgement free reflective zone, laying the groundwork for growth and wellness. Whether it is events in your past, specific challenges in the present, or worries about the future, therapy can provide the much needed insight and perspective. In addition to this, I make sure to set mutual, achievable milestones with my clients, to give direction to the work we will do together.

I believe that successful therapy begins with finding the right therapist for you. To help you accomplish this, during our initial consultation, I establish whether you are comfortable with my approach to therapy, training and experience. I respect your right to ask any questions and find answers that are relevant to developing a strong, professional theraputic relationship. Important aspects that will help you choose the right therapist are that they:
can show you a relevant diploma or license to practice
have completed training which includes theoretical perspectives and supervised practice
listen and respect your feelings
connect well with you

Jeffrey Ly | Porn Addiction Relationship
AMFT, LPHA, MA
Pornography addiction can significantly impact your life and relationships but there is hope for recovery. I’m not just a mental health professional, I’ve been “you” for many years. I understand firsthand the personal struggles in your life and committed relationships that come with uncontrollable pornography use. The endless stream of attractive women a few clicks away on Pornhub, Onlyfan or Social Media is hard to quit even with all your willpower and promise to quit for the sake of your relationship.

The focus of my work with clients seeks to answer three fundamental questions: (a) What direction do I want or need to shift my life towards? (b) What actions can I start taking to make this a reality? (c) What has or is blocking me from achieving this? Exploring these questions helps us understand if we are living in line with our values, how we view or treat ourselves, how we treat others, career ambitions, and overall lifestyle desires. The process of connecting with the parts of ourselves that influence our feelings, desires and ambitions can be elusive, fascinating, and deeply rewarding work.

Are you trying to get back with your girlfriend? Did you do something that got you dumped, and you don't know why you did it? Did you do everything for her and got nothing back? Or are you in a relationship and can't decide whether to leave or not. What happened to my sexual desire? Is she hot enough? Am I happy where I am now? I'm young, and I want to have more sex. Do I watch too much porn? What should I do? Are you also lost in life? You want to have a meaningful career, doing the things you love, but why can't I get out off the couch?

Guys have way more going on emotionally than most of us are comfortable talking about. If you have never talked to someone about whatever it is that you probably should talk to someone about, then I may be the guy for you. Some men come to my office after they've recently broken up with their girlfriend (or she has broken up with him). Some are dealing with anxiety or are living under the influence of depression. Some guys are trying to figure out who they really are and what to do with their life. What they all have in common is that they have strengths to draw on and want to advance in life feeling better than they do now.

I believe in a client’s ability to know intuitively what is troubling them. It’s my responsibility to listen, and to ensure they feel safe, respected and heard. We identify the desired goals and align on what the changed attitudes and emotional states will look like. Throughout therapy, positive changes are noticed and discussed, while the work still ahead is reviewed and the end goal regularly described. I am Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist with a private practice in Toronto. A Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work along with my continual training informs the range of therapeutic models I employ.

Most of my clients are men who are intelligent, self-reflective, and successful, but who still somehow feel that something’s missing, or that they haven’t "grown up" in some key way. They are often experiencing some combination of anxiety, shame, low self-esteem, anger, resentment, or relationship problems. I try to create a non-judgmental space for them to feel seen, heard and understood. It’s important for men to share their struggles, fears and shames with other caring and supportive men. This goes against a lot of our cultural conditioning but it helps us to feel that we’re not alone and that we’re actually okay.

Dan works with adolescents, adults, queer folks and seniors from a strengths-based, client-centered domain. Through his warmth, humour, and genuine care, Dan helps people from traditionally marginalized populations and those who feel they have been forgotten about or left behind in some way. Dan’s interested in helping people stuck in grief – over the death of a loved one, a relationship ending, a change in the family dynamic, the loss of a pet or job. Trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, LGBTIQ+ issues, conflict, shame, and self-esteem can interrupt our daily lives and prevent us from healing. Dan’s insight,

I use the art and science of psychological therapy to support the personal growth, well-being, and happiness of my clients. My approach is in-depth therapy and it involves us understanding you holistically as a unique individual. In your therapy, we aim to go beyond psychological symptoms and to pay close attention to the specific internal and external factors that drive your symptoms (or areas of personal concern).

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
