I understand that asking for support can be a challenging, yet a brave first step. It isn’t easy to have the courage to say that you need support and I welcome you here. I bring to you experience working in a variety of fields, from mental health, addictions, social relationships, and palliative care. In my sessions, I work from a trauma informed, anti-oppressive analysis, appreciating that trauma can be the basis of many challenges individuals may face. You are likely someone who works hard to balance your career/education with the rest of “life.” You are respected by co-workers/professors, adored by friends, and loved by family. You have goals and dreams! Some you have fulfilled, but some you have not. These days you find yourself stressed out, tired, and overwhelmed. You think this will go away. But, it only worsens, and persists sometimes for days, sometimes months. This is not the real you. I use what I have learned to help you escape the quagmire of doubt, depression, and stress! – Breaking that vicious circle of dysfunctional thoughts and emotions to get back to the real you!

“Stepping into the world of therapy can be a scary and challenging experience.” Why? It may be because you grew up in an environment or culture where “talking” about your mental health did not exist, was not accepted, or when you did, it was not validated. Know that I actively try to de-stigmatize “going to therapy” as part of my practice. I believe that therapy can look different for everyone. Some individuals engage in therapy to maintain their emotional well-being and balance in their life and/or some want to actively address debilitating mental health concerns. My approach is to meet you where you are at.

Unfolding, experiencing and living our authentic selves is what I am passionate about. I am highly skilled in guiding clients in accessing and exploring obstacles that are results of our deeply rooted beliefs. Unquestioned beliefs or limiting thoughts that can manifest as anxiety, depression or other psycho-emotional difficulties can actually be guiding lights on our journey to our true Selves. The essence of our being remains untouched as we grow and is waiting to be found and reconnected with. When you connect on a deeper level with your Self, your purpose, gifts, and talents show in their fullness and potentials show up.

In the wake of the pandemic, many of us found ourselves thinking about the direction our lives had taken and discovered we needed to make changes. Some of us came out of the pandemic feeling unhappy, uneasy and uncertain about what to do next and how to find purpose. Some of us got in touch with deeply personal feelings that had so far been untended or unacknowledged and discovered we needed to make major changes in our life, in our careers and in our personal relationships. These are issues and topics that you can work through and make sense of in the process of psychotherapy and counselling.

I sincerely believe that every human person has the inner resources for change and growth. The two words that best describe my work with care-seekers are 'to-Explore' & 'to -Empower'. My approach in psychotherapy is eclectic in responding to the care-seekers' needs and goals. I draw my therapeutic skills from a variety of theoretical models. My non-anxious presence in therapy helps my care-seekers to entrust themselves to the therapeutic process and work with me in resolving their issues, both short-term as well as long-term. I offer therapy for Individuals, couples and families.

You work hard to make relationships work, work hard at your job, you try your best to ensure everyone else around you is happy but end up losing yourself amid this. Even though you feel isolated, unheard, unseen you keep going. You want to stand up for yourself but don’t know how to. At times you feel overwhelmed with emotions thus feeling lost, helpless and anxious. You wonder why you connect to people a certain way and wish you could have healthier/sustainable relationships, wish you could cope better in difficult situations/be in charge of the way you express your feelings.

How can I find a therapist in Central Toronto, Toronto?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $300 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
