I work with teens (generally 14+) and adults.
Therapy can be a space to feel deeply seen, to explore the hidden currents of your inner world, and to make sense of the patterns that shape your life. Whether you’re facing challenges, untangling relationship dynamics, or seeking greater emotional clarity, I offer a warm, collaborative space. My approach is centred on emotional attunement, self-understanding, and growth, helping clients connect with their thoughts, feelings, and needs, and cultivate self-compassion and inner steadiness. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I also offer Sandtray therapy - a creative, hands-on way to explore experiences beyond words.

I work primarily with service members, veterans, and their families, as well as individuals navigating complex life transitions and high-stress environments. I specialize in supporting PTSD, anxiety, depression, and major life changes. As both the daughter and partner of a service member, I understand firsthand the demands of military life: frequent moves, personal sacrifice, and the invisible burden of trauma. My background in humanitarian work in Canada and internationally has further deepened my understanding of resilience in high-stress and transitional environments.

A part of our emotional struggles is connected to past experiences that were difficult, painful, or overwhelming and were never processed or healed. Many feel trapped in a cycle of shame, self-criticism, and never feeling "good enough". Most of our struggles have roots in childhood, where early experiences shaped the way we learned to cope, connect, and protect ourselves. If you find yourself caught in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, obsession, compulsion, emotional dysregulation, avoidance, withdrawing from others, difficulty communicating your needs, or feeling disconnected in your relationships, you are not alone.

From time to time, we all face challenges that can be overwhelming. Sometimes these challenges are situational, but they can also be the result of our lived experience(s) over time. Often they manifest as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and self harm. These manifestations can lead to further challenges such as job loss, family conflict, isolation, and addiction. Although we may flounder or experience failure, we can develop the strategies needed to live a flourishing life. Integrative therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Positive Psychotherapy, and Solution Focused Therapy teach us how to live well.

I am a licensed Clinical Therapist with 32 years of experience working to empower children, youth & families, within the GTA.
I am so glad that you are contemplating the start of a 'therapeutic journey' as life can sometimes feel overwhelming and difficult to manage on your own. I know it takes ‘courage’ to reach out for support, and I understand that we sometimes need a 'place' to share our burdens. I also recognize that it can be ‘scary’ to seek help, but my practice includes a ‘non-traditional’ holistic ‘Christian & Biblical Perspective’, where we can work together to reach your full potential as a child of 'God'. Contact me, as it would be my privilege to work with you, during this time in your life. So let's get started.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
