Our world is so complex. People are trying to navigate a world that is ever changing and constantly challenging. Maybe you are trying to fit in and feel appreciated. Or maybe you wonder how to find a moment to be alone and feel at peace. Maybe the last thing you want to do is be alone. Or maybe you feel disconnected and that no matter how hard you try, you just aren't able to connect with the people who are most important to you. These are all different outcomes that result when you don't feel emotionally safe and secure, attached, and valued in this chaotic world. When you are ready to change these outcomes, I am here to help.

Are you ready to feel more grounded, respond rather than react, and build a sense of safety and self-compassion? Trauma and anxiety can quietly shape how you see yourself and the world around you. You may be thoughtful and capable, yet feel on edge, disconnected from others, or emotionally drained. Past experiences can show up in your body, your relationships, or your ability to feel calm and present. You might feel frustrated by these patterns or unsure how to move forward, but something in you is ready for change. I’m here to support you on your journey toward healing.

Whether you’re carrying past mistakes, feeling uncertain about the future, or worried about what others might think, I want to work alongside you. Together, we can process the pain and weight of shame, fear, or doubt. Believing in yourself in who you truly are, can sometimes feel like the hardest thing to do. Our past, the judgments of others, or even our own expectations can drown out that belief. These struggles can show up in many ways: depression, anxiety, anger, rehearsing traumatic events, or relationship challenges.

I work from the firmly rooted belief that all people make sense. That all of our patterns have a purpose, and more often than not, that purpose is to protect ourselves. With this in mind, my primary goal is to support people in connecting with their existing patterns and sourcing agency and choice in how they relate to themselves, others, and the world. Together, we approach these existing patterns with curiosity and compassion while developing new strategies that encourage flexibility, security, and connection within yourself and your relationships.

I offer sessions in-person in a comfortable space or online by video, with flexible weekday and evening availability
Hey! I’m Katherine, a therapist who believes meaningful change begins when you feel truly heard. To me, therapy should feel like having coffee with a friend - just one who’s trained in mental health. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and I'm on a mission to change that. Whether you’re moving through big life transitions, working through anxiety or past trauma, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to support you with compassion, curiosity, and a healthy dose of humour along the way.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
