Life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined. Sometimes it is the ending of a love relationship, an unexpected job loss, or navigating a new health diagnosis. These moments can have us feeling anxious, disconnected, and unsure of how to move forward. Counselling is a supportive space to clear the noise. My role as your therapist is to support you in connecting to your core values, releasing the negative self-talk or shame that is weighing you down, and providing evidence based tools to aid your healing. I am passionate about supporting individuals through life transitions and loss.

Healing happens when we support the whole person, caring for not only the symptoms but also what's further beneath the surface. Emotional pain and trauma leave lasting marks on both the mind and body. That's why my work goes beyond traditional talk therapy, weaving in holistic practices to help promote deeper healing. I support teens and adults facing anxiety, depression, C-PTSD, personality and mood disorders, ADHD/ADD, self-esteem and perfectionism struggles, life transitions, and peer relationship challenges.

I support both child and adult sleep, but my work goes beyond that.
My ideal client is a new parent navigating a huge life shift. They might be struggling with a baby who isn’t sleeping or feeling anxious and wired themselves. They’re overwhelmed, touched out, and unsure what’s “normal” anymore. What they really want is to feel more like themselves—rested, grounded, and confident again.

We live in a very fast paced world. The pressures on us are mounting. Stress is high. And in spaces where we should be more and more connected we are feeling incredibly high amounts of isolation. Whatever you are dealing with right now, you don’t need to do it alone. Reaching out for support is vital. Connecting with a therapist is a way to help alleviate some of the stress.

Hi, I’m Anastasia. I help adults who feel held back by anxiety, self-doubt, and emotional overwhelm in their career, relationships, and everyday life. You may look calm and capable on the outside, while inside you are overthinking, overplanning, worrying about how others see you, or feeling responsible for everyone else’s emotions.

I think of therapy as not only focusing on the “black dots” on a paper—the struggles, stress, or places where we feel stuck, but also gently exploring the space on the paper that often goes unnoticed. We can together find ways to cope with the “black dots” in your life, while also making space to notice what is already there but unseen—your strengths, inner resources, resilience, and parts of yourself you may not yet be fully aware of. My approach is about holding both realities: acknowledging what feels heavy and difficult, while also helping you reconnect with what supports you and allows you to move forward with more clarity.

I am a licensed psychologist in Ontario who specializes in the practices of clinical psychology, neuropsychology, and rehabilitation psychology with adults (18-64). Like many Canadians, I come from a bicultural upbringing. For this reason, I am aware of the unique challenges and intergenerational experiences that are faced everyday by those of us who grew up in both mainstream Canadian and multicultural communities. Drawing from my training as a psychologist, as well as my personal journey, my goal is to create an authentic, relatable, and culturally sensitive space for you to share your experiences through the course of therapy.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
