Healing happens when we support the whole person, caring for not only the symptoms but also what's further beneath the surface. Emotional pain and trauma leave lasting marks on both the mind and body. That's why my work goes beyond traditional talk therapy, weaving in holistic practices to help promote deeper healing. I support teens and adults facing anxiety, depression, C-PTSD, personality and mood disorders, ADHD/ADD, self-esteem and perfectionism struggles, life transitions, and peer relationship challenges.

Have you lived through a traumatic event? Are you navigating life after childhood trauma or experiencing ongoing distress in your life? I believe it is possible to recover and reduce the effects of hurtful events or challenging circumstances on your life.
We will discuss together, at your own pace, how your past and identities affect you now. This includes looking at how you feel about yourself and in your relationships. Distressing events were often made worse by isolation, so having another person guide you through this process can be meaningful.

Maybe you’ve become really good at functioning on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or constantly on edge underneath it all. You may overthink conversations, struggle to trust people, shut down during conflict, or feel exhausted from always trying to keep it together. If you grew up around abuse, neglect, criticism, or emotional unpredictability, these patterns likely developed to help you survive. But survival mode is exhausting. Therapy can help you feel safer in your body, more connected in your relationships, and more like yourself again.

I help high-achieving, highly intelligent people stop overthinking and begin living from an integrated, directed self. Using a blend of parts work, somatic practice, and spiritual integration, I help you identify the internal voices and blocked energies that keep progress short-lived, and guide you to compassionate dialogue, boundary-setting, and embodied action. Many clients arrive feeling fractured. They are driven by intellect, but disconnected from desire, feeling, and meaning. Together we translate insight into sustainable change.

You need someone who would help you feel less "stuck" with something that took over many important aspects of your life, and you would like to learn about yourself through your strengths and potentials rather than diagnoses and symptoms only? As a therapist I am working with clients for more than a decade and it still fascinates me how resourceful and committed people can be in their therapy to achieve change. We choose goals, set the pace and tailor strategies together. You don't have to come "ready" the only expectation is that you are still somewhat curious about what could happen in your life when you are in control emotionally.

I support adults navigating the impacts of trauma, especially when harm occurred within relationships or systems where there was a strong power dynamic, such as families, intimate partnerships, workplaces, teams, or faith communities. They may be living with anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, or chronic stress, and feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to trust themselves again. Many are seeking support to understand how past experiences are shaping their present-day emotions, relationships, and sense of safety. They want to move beyond survival mode, feel more grounded and empowered, and rebuild healthy relationships.

I work with you to create a safe space for us to explore some of the areas in your life you are struggling with. I believe in naming the strengths in ourselves that resist, or push back against, hardship as points of transformation into a more fulfilling and joyful life.

Do you feel you could be the poster child for high-functioning anxiety? You’re always in go-go-go mode and struggle to slow down or relax. And maybe you even find yourself getting sick every time you finally take vacation or allow yourself to slow down. Chances are you’ve been stuck in chronic fight or flight mode for a while now. You may have even had health professionals tell you this, but you just don’t know how to get out of it. And you’ve probably noticed your stress and anxiety showing up as not-so-fun physical symptoms (sleep or digestive issues anyone?). Anxiety affects our thoughts, but it wreaks havoc on our body too!

Someone you loved and trusted betrayed you. Your partner, spouse, or someone close? Has the betrayal has left you in shock, confused, and devastated? It can literally feel like the ground has been pulled out right from under you, and you find yourself questioning everything you thought you knew and loved. The emotions can come in waves—anger, sadness, fear, or even numbness—and at times, it can feel overwhelming. It’s hard to know what to do next. This is completely normal, and it’s okay to feel lost right now. My goal is to help you understand what happened and begin finding your footing again.

Trauma has a way of following you — into your sleep, your relationships, your sense of who you are. Maybe you've tried to push through it. Maybe you've told yourself it wasn't that bad. But it keeps showing up anyway. I work with adults and teens across Ontario and Nova Scotia who are struggling with PTSD, trauma, and anxiety. You don't have to keep carrying this alone. I create a space where you can talk honestly — without fear of judgment — and start to feel like yourself again.

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
