I draw from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness Interventions.
Life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined. Sometimes it is the ending of a love relationship, an unexpected job loss, or navigating a new health diagnosis. These moments can have us feeling anxious, disconnected, and unsure of how to move forward. Counselling is a supportive space to clear the noise. My role as your therapist is to support you in connecting to your core values, releasing the negative self-talk or shame that is weighing you down, and providing evidence based tools to aid your healing. I am passionate about supporting individuals through life transitions and loss.

Healing happens when we support the whole person, caring for not only the symptoms but also what's further beneath the surface. Emotional pain and trauma leave lasting marks on both the mind and body. That's why my work goes beyond traditional talk therapy, weaving in holistic practices to help promote deeper healing. I support teens and adults facing anxiety, depression, C-PTSD, personality and mood disorders, ADHD/ADD, self-esteem and perfectionism struggles, life transitions, and peer relationship challenges.

Sometimes in life we can feel stuck - stuck in the way we think, the way we feel, what we do, what we don't do. It happens to all of us because we are human, and something is calling our attention to change or shift things. This can be overwhelming, saddening, frustrating, downright unpleasant. Therapy can provide the opportunity to reflect on what we're experiencing and create new ways of being - from a place of "stuckness" we can create movement.

I like to incorporate a unique blend of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, Narrative Therapy, and client-centred, strengths-based approaches that empower you to reach your goals, build self-awareness, and strengthen your confidence.
Therapy can be challenging, it asks us to look honestly at patterns, pain, and parts of ourselves we may have learned to avoid. But with the right support, it never has to feel like a journey you take alone. I offer a warm, and welcoming space where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin making sense of what you’re carrying. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, therapy can be a place to build clarity, resilience, and self-trust at your own pace. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin, just a willingness to show up. Together, we can take that step forward in your journey.

I often use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness with my clients.
Do you feel misunderstood or like you want to escape from painful memories, thoughts, and/or emotions? Do you feel stuck as though you are unable to move forward in life? Do you struggle with people-pleasing, relationship conflict, chronic illness, or feel emotionally disconnected? If any of this applies to you, please know that you are not alone. It is normal to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and disappointed when life appears to be passing us by and we feel stuck or held back by our past experiences. Having a therapist who provides a trauma-informed and client centred approach is essential in these cases.

This may be through talk therapy, breath work, meditation, mindfulness, or acknowledging and healing old patterns that are keeping you “stuck".
*PRE-LICENSED PROFESSIONAL*There are so many of us today that are sleep walking our days away. We don’t notice how our bodies are retaliating against how we have internalized our own traumas and challenges. We “think” our way out of critical issues and we forget to listen to our body, mind and spiritual being. We need to “wake up”. We need to feel again. It may be difficult to get there but we have to do away with being comfortably numb and get back to living our best life. With a varied toolbox we can explore various ways of uncovering a path to a more authentic life.

I believe that each person has strength and resilience within them. Sometimes we only need a helping hand to get there. I have helped many individuals discover this strength, find healing, and move towards the life they want to live. As a person-centred therapist, I believe in empowering individuals to discover more about who they are in a collaborative approach to therapy. I work hard to build trust and create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to come as they are, and together, take steps towards health and recovery.

I enjoy working with individuals, families, and couples. This might be the first time you are seeking counselling or you may be seeking for a different counselling experience, picking the right counsellor for you is important. It is important to understand how we interpret our experiences and how they affects us. Our environments also have the ability to impact the way we interpret our experiences and interactions; it can be helpful to develop an awareness of the common miscommunication we experience based on our past experiences and in challenging ourselves to take steps towards wellness.

To support healing, I weave in brain-based and somatic approaches such as Brainspotting, as well as mindfulness, solution-focused, attachment, harm reduction, and creative work (such as music or art), always from a social justice lens.
You might be moving through a transition and time in your life that feels tender, overwhelming, or hard to name. Maybe you are navigating a breakup, workplace stress, gender-affirming care, coming out, medical recovery, or hormonal changes. You may be impacted by your mental health, and feel tired of holding everything together on your own. I understand how vulnerable it can feel when the ground shifts beneath you, and I am here to support. I bring many years of experience in front-line, trauma and therapy roles, along with my own lived experience moving through significant life and medical changes.

On the outside, you may look like you’re holding it all together—but inside, it feels like a lot. Maybe you’re navigating a life transition, questioning who you are, or carrying the pressure to always get things right. Anxiety, stress, depression, and perfectionism can leave you overthinking everything, feeling emotionally drained, and disconnected from yourself. You might be the one everyone relies on, while quietly feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what you actually need. Somewhere along the way, you stopped feeling like you.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Counsellors
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
