Welcome! As a therapist, I have the privilege of accompanying clients along their uniquely personal therapy journeys. My passion, training, and specialty lies in providing a safe and judgement-free space for traditional counselling, and trauma processing via EMDR and IFS. The origin of unprocessed trauma isn't always immediately clear, yet it changes how we feel about ourselves and the world around us. It can keep us in old and unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving while also limiting our ability to truly experience and embrace the present moment...where joy and love of new experiences and relationships happen.

Sometimes in life we are at a place where we are looking to understand more of ourselves and what is going on in our lives - from the relationships we find ourselves in, to the cycles that we might get stuck in. From
anxiety
, depression, grief, trauma, life stress, big transitions; my job is to offer a space for you to feel safe and heard so the unpacking and understanding can begin. It is only when we can uncover and understand the root of the problem that profound coping and healing can really begin. If you are looking to understand yourself on a deeper level and take control of the things that are hurting you, I can help.

Whether a child is dealing with
anxiety
, depression, grief and loss, family separation or divorce, or difficulty regulating emotions, Play Therapy helps children learn new tools and develop resilience they can easily transfer into their day to day lives.
Childhood is often thought of as a magical time. The reality is that many kids face problems that leave them feeling worried, scared, angry, sad or confused. This can be difficult and heart breaking for parents trying their best to connect with and support their child. Very often, despite a caregiver’s best effort to learn more and help solve the problem, a child’s response is “I don’t know”. Play therapy can help provide children with the tools they need to express their thoughts and explore their inner world.

I can relate to the many issues and needs of others. Many times, we will experience stress and
anxiety
or depression because of our past experiences. Some problems are so traumatic that we may actually feel a sense of hopelessness. Some of us need help in working through trauma, self-esteem, or confidence. we can accomplish goals on creating a healthier and more adaptive life where you overall feel better and when we start to heal and feel good we are going to enjoy the many things that we have in our lives a little bit more.

at some point in their life. The support of an empathetic, non-judgmental counsellor can help us to create a plan to move forward when we feel ‘stuck’. If you are experiencing sadness, stress, or worry, I can provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for you to identify the goals that are most important to you, and support you in reaching those goals.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
