I specialize working with individuals ages 16+, and have experience treating insomnia, grief, anger, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and trauma .
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Frustrated? Weighed down by your emotions, and the stress of day-to-day life? Maybe you are facing challenges in your relationships, stress from work or home, problems from the past that just don’t seem to be getting resolved, or new challenges, like the loss of a loved one or fears about the future. Often our journey to seek counselling comes after we have tried all our go-to methods for coping, but they just don’t seem to be working anymore. You’re feeling stuck or blocked from what matters to you, and you are ready to try something different. If this is where you are, I'm glad you're seeking support.

My areas of specialty include PTSD , trauma , depression, anxiety, self-worth, men's issues, and spirituality.
Trauma , depression, and other mental health issues can often cause individuals to become "stuck" leading to feelings of resignation or hopelessness. It can often feel like the individual is at the bottom of a well which keeps getting deeper, with the light out feeling further and further out of reach. It can lead individuals to believe that there is no path forwards, or that any path forward is one devoid of meaning or fulfillment.

I enjoy working with women, trans and non-binary people who have had long-term mental health struggles and a history of trauma . The people I see are often struggling with understanding the impact of childhood wounds, stressful relationships involving difficulty with intimacy or autonomy, coping with the after-effects of sexual violence and/or feeling stuck in emotions such as shame and loneliness. These people may be trying to reconcile their values and desired way of being in the world with intense reactions that seem to come out of the blue. I also do work regarding gender, sexuality and neurodiversity.

Vulnerability is the first step to healing. When we are able to be vulnerable with ourselves, we are able to open up,. I want your messy self to show up and feel safe in your own space alongside me. I am a student of the Satir Family System's model and help the whole family grow alongside one another. I love the challenge of helping the client heal and being part of the process. My goal is to help clients associate self-responsibility with success. The Satir approach can help clients work through trauma and develop a greater sense of harmony and inner peace. I am a firm believer in therapy being client-driven and action orientated.

Our work together would involve client-centered counselling from a trauma -informed, strengths-based, solution-focused, and narrative lens incorporating traditional Talk-Therapy/Psychotherapy, Self-Compassion Coaching, EMDR, and Classical & Advanced Hypnosis.
For many years I have witnessed individuals both close to me personally and within my counseling practice suffer from emotional, psychological, and chronic health challenges that have impacted their capacity to engage in the quality of life they desire and so very much deserve. It is my vision to inspire others to recognize the power of their natural capacity for healing mind, body, and spirit, and to provide tools and resources to complement a comprehensive healing plan of action.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
