Hello and welcome! My name is Madeleine, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). I work closely with people on their unique goals, including: building self esteem, working with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, career transitions and limiting behaviours. I can help tailor an impactful and non judgemental space for you to explore, express, and relate.
Dr. Naomi Slonim is registered as a School and Clinical Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She has worked in a number of school and clinical settings in Toronto including hospital, children’s mental health agency, school board, and private practice. During the pandemic, Dr. Slonim is focusing on providing therapy to adolescents, parents and families in the areas of personality development and adjustment in adolescence, anxiety and mood-related disorders, high-functioning ASD, and interpersonal problems. She also has an interest in providing therapy to those who have not found brief interventions beneficial.

During COVID-19, I am providing low cost video/phone counselling for clients until it is safe to meet in person again. I know it is a stressful and anxious time and we are all processing that in different ways. I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Child and Youth Care Practitioner with over 20 years experience working with individuals, couples, co-parents, children, teens and families. I have been a long-term foster parent to adolescents. I work with people of all ages. I have experience in education, private practice and non-profit sectors.
Today's headlines leave a lot of people feeling anxious and afraid. You may face abusive customers on the job or fear losing your ideals, experience panic attacks or feelings of despair. Regardless of your experience and responsibilities, stress can worsen many pre-existing conditions such as social anxiety, grief, depression, chronic anger, parenting issues and concerns for the future. You may be having trouble navigating work or personal relationships, feeling depressed or otherwise struggling to get back on track. However, a more fulfilling life is open to everyone with the right kind of support.
The folx I work with have experienced a complex variety of trauma(s) throughout their lives. They struggle with relationships (personally and/or professionally), substance use/overuse and/or mental health well-being. Their hope is to break free from their trauma and live their best life.
For your ease, I offer telephone and video counselling in the evenings and weekends. I only have two ultimate goals when serving you, which is that you firstly walk away with insight and clarity on why you are feeling the way that you are, and secondly that you gain concrete, practical skills to manage your challenges effectively. I strongly believe in empowerment through knowledge and skills, and I am here to walk beside you through your journey towards your end goal.
You are always on the run yet you get very little accomplished. You feel stressed and worried about approaching deadlines and family/work responsibilities. You often feel your batteries are out of charge and your focus is blurred. You know your body needs rest but words "self-care" and "rest" can't just fit into your busy day. You think “I will rest when I get everything done” but it never happens. Instead you go through this vicious circle of feeling stressed, burned out which leads to anxiety and depression. What you long for is being grounded in your body, ability to build happy meaningful relationships and a fulfilling career.
For 17 years. Providing psychotherapy, counselling and mindfulness training to clients suffering with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or life struggles resulting from new or complex situations that experience has not prepared them for. Many seek therapy because they want their situation or behaviour to change, but are stuck in a pattern of repeating exactly those things they hope to change. My role is to help you uncover and understand your current situation and what may be keeping you in self-limiting patterns, help you learn and apply new skills, and provide tools for managing symptoms and navigating new experiences.
Registered Social Worker, MSW, RSW, Ontario, LCSW, PA
Every individual I have the opportunity to meet carriers with them a collection of unique experiences, thoughts, beliefs, values and goals. As humans, we all have periods in our lives when we think, “things are not how they should or ought to be” and this may lead us to a place where we may not be feeling like ourselves. I genuinely believe that you, as a client, are the expert at your own life, but sometimes, even experts can use a little fine tuning- this is one of the functions of therapy! I promise to provide you with the highest quality service that it tailored to your specific needs.
Are you seeking to make changes in your life to achieve your goals and create a lifestyle that supports your personal aspirations? Are you looking for a therapist to support you along your journey? I am a therapist that has devoted my private practice to supporting racialized folks, students and individuals living with invisible disabilities. I am passionate about helping individuals no matter what social class they identify with, applying an anti-oppressive framework to enhance one’s self-worth and quality of life.
Have you been struggling with long standing depression? Do you feel like the depression comes in bouts? Have you been feeling anxious for as long as you can remember, especially when you were going through significant changes in your life or specifically when you are in social situations? I would love to work with you and be your support while you safely explore your thoughts, core beliefs, feelings and behaviours in a judgment-free, warm and confidential space. I will be genuinely curious when asking you questions that might help you discover your own patterns but also teach you how to respectfully challenge them.
Your reasons for embarking on this path and the experiences you have had are unique to you. Many of us have had to navigate systems of oppression while feeling alone, scared, frustrated, overwhelmed, exhausted and unsure of what may come next. Sharing your experiences may bring relief, reveal unconscious tendencies and deepen your self-awareness. Therapy is not only for the challenging times - it can be a place to pause, reflect and refocus. Together, we will help you find meaning, direction, clarity and healing.
Over the past ten years I have worked with adolescents, youth, adults and families in several different settings including community mental health, hospital, crisis services, school and live in treatment homes. I have worked with people experiencing a wide range of complex needs and challenges such as developmental, cognitive, physical and mental.
As humans it is easy to feel overwhelmed by our thoughts and emotions and manage their impact on our relationships and reaching life goals. Making sense of life and feeling more balanced is possible when working with a therapist you feel connected and comfortable with. My therapy approach is grounded in the values of acceptance, compassion, authenticity, and collaboration.
You are confused, angry, frustrated or keep blaming yourself. Your sleep is disturbed or your brain is working non-stop. You feel exhausted and you have difficulty staying focused. You have isolated yourself, find yourself crying frequently, don't feel happy, avoid certain situations, keep getting into arguments, get angry, or end up sabotaging relationships. You are stressed from work or school. You are experiencing conflicts in your relationship. You may have suicidal thoughts. I have vast experience working and supporting people experiencing depression, anxiety, guilt, anger, low self-esteem, grief & bereavement, stress, relationship issues and mental health challenges.
I provide psychotherapy to clients struggling with challenging life experiences. It can be difficult to feel understood or to cope when experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict or low self-confidence. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help, and I can provide a safe space where together we focus on skills that foster resiliency in the face of inevitable life challenges. I have more than a decade of experience working with adults (18+) dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment issues, grief, shame and guilt, interpersonal conflict, and perinatal concerns, etc.
Currently, I provide therapy for teens, adolescents and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideations and overall emotion regulation concerns in both community and hospital settings. Whether these concerns are intensified due to school, life transitions, interpersonal conflict, or loss, I am looking forward to collaboratively working with my clients to alleviate some of their burdens. My approach is solution focused and short term especially for my teen and adolescent clients who are trying to keep up with the demands of school and work.
Renew’s counselling services offer therapeutic support to parents dealing with the anxieties and stressors of marital problems. I counsel parents experiencing separation or divorce; in high-conflict relationships; involved in family court, dealing with custody issues, or have children involved in supervised access visits. Additionally, I offer anger management and parenting classes that provide a certification of completion. Through personal goal-setting and a combined application of Behaviour Management, CBT, DBT and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, I have helped families navigate life’s transitions.
