For over 20 years, I have worked with families during times of trauma, abuse, grief and loss , anxiety, and depression.
It’s become a complex world that we live in, but it doesn’t always have to feel that way. Trauma. Conflict. Discrimination. Bullying. Relationship issues. Addiction. Parenting. Where do we begin? I believe that given the proper tools to navigate these challenges, and an opportunity to communicate and problem solve, we can nurture ourselves back to a healthy and more resilient lifestyle! I am a passionate and committed clinician who enjoys building from the strengths of each client I meet. It’s important for me to provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment to nurture personal growth and healing.

Seeing a psychotherapist is like the process of crossing the bridge to freedom from "here" to "where you want/need to be". In my practice, I use a holistic treatment approach consisting of: psychotherapy , lifestyle management strategies (sleep, nutrition, physical exercise), building support and at client's request spiritual/ faith-based practice(s).

It's not just you, life HAS gotten harder in the last few years. If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

Mindset matters. It plays an important role, influencing our emotions and behaviours. What messages are you sending yourself about your life? Your capabilities? In what ways is current stress or past trauma impacting your mental and physical health? You may be living with anxiety or depression. You may be feeling limited by low self-esteem or find yourself repeating patterns that don’t serve you anymore. You may be grieving a loss of relationship or stability in your life. Alternatively, maybe you want to make changes, but feel fearful to take a leap, or you’d like to set new goals with the help of a therapist in your corner.

Have you experienced child loss or birth trauma and need to process what happened? Maybe you need guidance in a difficult relationship or are experiencing anxiety and rage. It may feel like you aren't in control of anything and life feels lonely. Your family, friends, and partner don't feel these experiences like you do. It's almost like everyone forgot what you went through. This feels extremely invalidating and no one seems to understand. I am passionate about helping women feel empowered and confident as an individual, a parent and a partner.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
