Do you feel lost in the noise of life? Perhaps you’re moving through the world performing a version of yourself that no longer fits, or you've realized the "real you" has been buried under the expectations of others. Whether you are navigating the heavy fog of grief, a major life transition, or a fading sense of self-worth, these challenges can leave you feeling like a stranger in your own life. I work with individuals who are tired of just "going through the motions" and are ready to address the underlying anxiety and depression that stem from a lack of self-connection and authentic relational health.

You’re holding so much together, work, family, relationships, and still wondering why you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected. Maybe you’re the one everyone turns to, but lately, you don’t know who’s supporting you. Maybe you’re in a relationship that feels stuck, or parenting feels heavier than it should. You’re not alone. And more importantly, this doesn’t have to be your forever story.

Maybe you are navigating change, facing challenges or losses in your life, and trying to process your experiences. Do you long to make peace with your past, and bring meaning to your story? Perhaps I can help. Working with a psychotherapist is a valuable way to explore our lives in an open and non-judgmental way. Often times turning points or changing phases of life call us to question things, confront us with important decisions, and challenge us to decide what is meaningful now. I consider it an honour to accompany people on this journey as a witness, an ally, and an expert midwife of psychological change.

I know what it's like to think you have to figure it all out for yourself, and to be tired of being the one who figures it all out. Isn't it exhausting? And because you’re intelligent and tend to accomplish and succeed, you apply the same methods to yourself. Figuring it out, but really stuck in mental loops. It’s a tricky way the conscious mind makes you think you’re doing something, but when you get caught up in contemplation it keeps you from moving forward. You likely realize it’s you holding you back. That’s where that inner critic comes in: that part of you that says you should be able to solve the problem of how you feel.

Do you ever feel like you’re constantly “on,” doing everything you’re supposed to, but still feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure who you really are? Maybe you overthink, put other people’s needs first, or feel stuck in patterns that don’t fit anymore. You might be asking yourself, Who am I now? What do I actually want? You just want to feel calmer, more like yourself, and confident in the direction you’re going.

Maybe you’re considering a career change or facing a life transition, such as graduating from high school or retiring. You may feel like this decision will affect everything, or worry you'll make the “wrong” choice. Or you just want something to change and don’t know what. This makes it hard to move forward at all.

My ideal clients are competitive athletes, executives, and high achievers who are serious about the mental side of performance. They come to me when talent and hard work aren't enough on their own. Pressure, self-doubt, or inconsistency is getting in the way of what they're capable of. My practice also offers neuropsychological and psychological assessments and treatment for children, teens, and adults dealing with ADHD, learning disabilities, anxiety, concussion, and other brain-based difficulties.

You might be a parent watching your child struggle at school and not knowing how to help. You might be managing your own ADHD diagnosis later in life, or trying to hold everything together while caring for your kids and your aging parents at the same time. Maybe it is anxiety, depression, or just the quiet exhaustion of feeling like too much is always on your plate. Whatever brought you here, you do not have to figure it out alone. I work with children, teens, and adults who are ready to understand themselves better and build something that actually lasts.

FAQ - About Geriatric Therapy
What can a geriatric psychologist help with?
Geriatric therapists specialise in the cognitive and neurological challenges that often accompany aging, including dementia, memory loss, and age-related cognitive decline. They also address the psychological conditions that frequently co-occur with these issues, such as depression, anxiety, and grief. Geriatric therapists and psychologists are trained to assess cognitive functioning, identify symptoms that may warrant further evaluation, and conduct or refer for formal neurological assessment when needed. In many cases, geriatric therapists also work closely with medical doctors to manage a client's overall health, and they may support caregivers and family members navigating the demands of caring for an aging loved one.

Why might someone seek a geriatric psychologist?
Someone might seek a geriatric therapist when they or a loved one begins experiencing cognitive or neurological changes and is unsure whether those changes are a normal part of aging or something that requires clinical attention. A geriatric therapist can help connect families with appropriate next steps. They are also commonly sought following a new diagnosis, when clients and families are working to understand what that diagnosis means practically and emotionally, and what to expect as a condition progresses. When seeking a therapist, it can be helpful to consider whether a clinician with a stronger psychotherapy focus or one with more of a social work orientation, who can help connect clients with assisted living or medical resources, would be the better fit.

What type of therapy might a geriatric therapists specialise in?
Geriatric therapist often combine psychotherapy with psychoeducation, helping clients and their families understand cognitive and neurological conditions and what to expect as they progress. For clients experiencing anxiety or depression alongside cognitive decline, therapists may draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or mindfulness-based approaches. For clients with dementia specifically, therapists may be trained in specialised modalities such as Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), which is designed to preserve cognitive functioning.

Can geriatric psychologists help people who suffer from dementia?
Yes, and this is a core area of geriatric psychology. Therapists specialising in dementia can work directly with clients on memory loss and cognitive functioning, while also addressing conditions that commonly co-occur, such as depression and anxiety. They can provide caregivers with objective assessments of a client's functioning and disease progression, and are typically well-versed in community resources available to dementia patients and their families.
