My role as a therapist is to help uncover the significant puzzle pieces of your reality, arrange them in a meaningful way to create a clear image, and act as a guide for navigating through it.
The alliance between a client and therapist is the keystone of treatment success. A growing body of research shows this relationship is more determinant of therapeutic success than the kind of therapy used or the client's characteristics. The best alliance is marked by the relationship quality (feeling understood and validated), a shared perspective/goals, and agreement on the means for change. The decision of who to entrust with your therapeutic needs is your greatest consideration when embarking on this journey. It's my responsibility to tailor an approach best suited to you individually.

My approach is based on client-centred therapy with integrated interventions using CBT, DBT, ACT , combined with intuition, creativity, spirituality, and compassion that I bring to my work.
As the result of big or small traumas in our lives, our true self becomes less vocal and more obscured, hiding itself fearfully beneath our insecurities. In a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental therapeutic setting, you will be given a chance to express your real self without fear, shame, guilt, and other unpleasant emotions that have previously gotten in the way of you for better or worse. Through counselling, you will achieve better emotional insight, courage, self- acceptance , self-compassion, and many skills and coping strategies to help you deal with, eliminate or reduce your undesired psychological symptoms.

Welcome. Working with a therapist provides the opportunity to explore the things that truly matter to you. Through uncovering the stumbling blocks and triggers that prevent you from being the best version of yourself, we will collaborate together to create self-awareness, self-compassion, and self- acceptance - while determining new avenues to accomplish tangible goals that align with your values. Giving consideration to the 'whole' you is an integral part of the therapeutic process – including those aspects that are painful and deeply imbedded, as well as your strengths, resources and aspirations.

I draw upon various theoretical approaches like Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy( ACT ), Mindfulness-based self-compassion, and Solution Focused Therapies.
Welcome! I’m a registered psychotherapist (Qualifying) from the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a registered hypnotist from the National Guild of Hypnotists. I provide counseling in English and Mandarin. When we experience life stressors or trauma, it is common to feel stuck and frustrated. It is tough to confront the habits that keep you from becoming the best version of yourself. But it is also the bravest and most commitment you can make to yourself. I am here to provide a safe space to ensure you get the best care.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
