One million Canadian men suffer from major depressive disorder each year. Three of every four completed suicides in Canada are by men. The prevalence of alcohol use disorder is twice as high in men with another mental health diagnosis than in the general population. One third of Canadian men worry that talking about mental health at work could put their job at risk. Men are just as likely as women to have mental health issues yet are far less likely to utilize traditional mental health services. Men are more likely to believe that mental health services are difficult to access, ineffective and invasive. At Cogent, Ontario’s new mental health clinic focussed solely on supporting men, we’re changing that.

Do you keep having the same argument, in your head or with someone you love? You reach for closeness, then pull back before it gets too close. Small moments spiral into hours of overthinking, or you go quiet and far away, even when someone's right there. These are old protective patterns: ways your nervous system learned to keep you safe. If insight alone hasn't changed how you react, EMDR helps your body process what's stuck, not just understand it. If this shows up most with your partner, couples therapy isn't about who's right. It's about breaking the cycle together, at a pace that feels safe.

Healing often begins with learning to treat yourself with the same compassion you already offer everyone else. I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, low self-esteem, body image concerns, perfectionism, work stress, and relationship challenges. My clients often arrive feeling disconnected from themselves, struggling to trust their own voice or feel confident in who they are. Whether you are dealing with social pressure, family dynamics, dating, or the quiet weight of self-criticism, this is a space where you can begin to reconnect with yourself.

Hi, I'm Kourtney from KR Therapy Services. Whether you’ve experienced unimaginable loss, you’ve become a caregiver, or you're navigating illness- you might feel like you don't recognize yourself anymore. You may feel numb, disconnected, and overwhelmed. You may feel like you've tried everything and still wake with the same heaviness. If this sounds familiar that's often the weight of unprocessed emotions, guilt, trauma, or just the disorienting fog of a life that’s no longer what it was. I specialize in supporting individuals who are navigating complex grief, trauma, and identity shifts through profound loss.

Maybe a court, lawyer, or family-services worker has told you that you need to attend therapy, and you're not sure how you feel about it. You might be frustrated, embarrassed, or worried about being judged before you even walk in the door. Perhaps the order is tied to anger that boiled over, conflict at home, a separation or custody matter, or a single moment you wish had gone differently. Maybe you just want to meet the requirement and move on with your life, and that's okay too. Either way, you want someone who takes it seriously, won't talk down to you, and gives you the documentation you actually need.

Accepting new clients! You have probably tried to talk it out, reconnect, and fix things, but the same conflict keeps showing up. Maybe you feel distant, defensive, or like you are walking on eggshells. Maybe intimacy feels tense or avoidant, desire has changed, or you miss the closeness you used to have. Underneath the arguments there is often an attachment pattern, stress, anxiety, or low mood that makes it harder to feel safe with each other. My role is to help you slow things down, understand what is happening between you, and rebuild a relationship that feels connected and secure.

You've started keeping notes, just so you can check your own memory later. You apologise for things you're not even sure you did, and you second-guess what you saw and heard. From the outside the relationship looks fine, which is part of what makes it so hard to explain to anyone. When someone rewrites what happened often enough, you start to lose trust in your own read on things. If you're beginning to wonder whether what you've been living with has a name, you're not imagining it, and you're not too sensitive.

It's 3am again. You woke up two hours ago and your mind hasn't stopped - tomorrow's to-do list, the thing you said in the meeting that landed wrong, whether you remembered to RSVP for the birthday party, whether that email you sent at 8pm was too direct. Somehow you thought you'd feel "happy" and "together" by now, but instead you're filled with dread. You did everything the responsible way - the degree, the career, the calendar that runs everyone's life - and now your body keeps a schedule you didn't pick. Nothing technically "looks" broken. But is this the life you actually want? You're just running on empty and you know it

My ideal client is someone who's tired of feeling like they have to have it all figured out before asking for help. They often spend so much energy looking after everyone else that they've forgotten how to care for themselves. They want to understand why they feel the way they do, break patterns that no longer serve them, and feel more at home in their own life. Therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, and not judged, rushed, or spoken for. My role is to walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity, and compassion as we make sense of your story together and collaboratively walk through the best next steps forward, together.

Navigating the stress and uncertainty of everyday life can feel defeating and lonely. You don’t have to face it on your own. I support teens and adults who are struggling with emotional regulation, stress, burnout, anxiety, self-worth, relationship issues and ADHD. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process that is tailored to your strengths and goals. I strive to create a safe space where you feel understood, supported and can truly be yourself (or start figuring out who that is). I bring a non-judgmental, down-to-earth approach to therapy, so conversations feel human and relatable rather than clinical or intimidating.
