My philosophy of treatment is to listen deeply to what has happened. I ask pertinent questions, not to judge what you have experienced, but to assist me in understanding what has happened and how it is affecting you now. We will embark on a journey together to unravel the reasons and answers that have eluded you so far. I use a client-centred approach, which means that you are the expert and I am the assistant. I will not try to fix you, but together, we will deconstruct what has happened and work towards creating the outcomes that you want.

Couples therapy isn't for every therapist but it is the thing I have devoted myself too because it takes a certain set of skills to do well.
Informed by Attachment Theory and EFT, I offer couples a structured approach, naming your pattern, uncovering the fears underneath it, and building tools to actually hear each other. No open-ended "let's see how it goes" or sessions spent talking about who isn't doing the dishes. There is homework in between every session to make the most of our time.

Along with CBT, I also incorporate IFS informed work to gently explore relationship patterns, protective parts, and the ways your inner system has adapted over time.
Sliding scale offered. Being a first-responder for years and former international student, I understand the courage it takes to navigate major life transitions. Moving across countries, adapting to a new culture, adjusting to climate changes, building community from scratch, and redefining identity can impact us emotionally, physically, and relationally. These experiences can bring growth, but also loneliness, pressure, uncertainty, and overwhelm. I bring both professional training and lived experience to support clients through these complex transitions with empathy and cultural sensitivity.

Does your mind feel like it never shuts off? You may find yourself constantly worrying, overanalyzing conversations, replaying past situations, imagining worst-case scenarios, or struggling to make decisions. Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, irritability, restlessness, trouble concentrating, muscle tension, panic, or a constant sense that something is wrong - even when you can't pinpoint what. Living in your head all day is exhausting, and it can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, and disconnected from the life you want to be living.

Although my main focus is male mental health, I am adept at helping anyone or couples deal with depression, stress, anxiety, grief, conflict, and addictions.
**Accepting New Clients** I believe that the pain each man goes through is unique to his issues but is not dissimilar from the pain other men experience. Most men are taught about what feelings are acceptable to feel and in what situations it is acceptable to feel them. This can lead to men hearing phrases such as “toughen up”, “be strong” or “don’t cry”. Some men will say “I’m alright” when answering questions about their well being when they really aren’t “alright”. I believe such phrases and answers must be challenged. Every man deserves to be heard and have his feelings acknowledged. Together, we will work towards that goal.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
