Helping clients connect to their strengths and to then leverage these traits in service of personal goals of health and happiness briefly describes my orientation to counselling work. From time to time, we all face challenges that can be overwhelming. Sometimes these challenges are situational, but they can also be the result of our lived experience(s) over time. Often they manifest as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and self harm. These manifestations can lead to further challenges such as job loss, family conflict, isolation, and addiction. Although we may flounder or experience failure, we can develop the strategies needed to live a flourishing life. Integrative therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Positive Psychotherapy, and Solution Focused Therapy teach us how to live well.

I am genuinely interested and curious about the lives, perspectives, experiences and inner workings of human beings. It is a great privilege to work alongside people as they unravel old patterns, process challenging experiences and examine deeply held beliefs about themselves that may not hold true. My early work in community development has contributed to a firm belief in supporting clients to address all areas of their lives: recognizing that the connection between mental, physical, emotional, and social helps to foster optimal wellbeing.

I help individuals, including teens, and couples uncover patterns, reclaim their voice, and move from merely coping to truly thriving.
Are you holding everything together on the outside, but inside you feel like you're unraveling? You may be the one everyone counts on — the caregiver, the achiever, the one who keeps the family, the team, or the relationship afloat. But lately, you’re exhausted. You find yourself overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, or just plain stuck. Maybe you’re grieving, wrestling with old wounds, or trying to manage the weight of being “strong” for too long. You want to feel more connected, more in control, and more like yourself again. I offer a grounded, compassionate space to explore what’s underneath your struggles to better understand you.

Have you been moving through life on autopilot—taking care of everyone else while feeling disconnected from yourself? Maybe you’ve lost your voice in the chaos of burnout, overwhelming life experiences, or unhealthy relationship dynamics. I help people come back home to themselves. My approach is body-based, integrative, and real. Together, we’ll slow down, notice what your body is holding, and begin to process the emotions and patterns that no longer serve you. I pay close attention to the edges of your capacity and the balance between protecting yourself and stepping into courageous vulnerability.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
