I offer evidence-based therapy for individuals and couples.
Hi, I’m Melissa. I know how exhausting it can feel when your mind won’t slow down and life starts to feel overwhelming. My goal is to offer a warm, thoughtful space where you can speak openly and feel understood. Together, we look beyond surface coping strategies to understand the patterns beneath anxiety, burnout, overthinking, and relationship struggles. In our work, we explore how past experiences, attachment patterns, and nervous system responses shape how you think, feel, and relate to others. I take a collaborative approach, helping you gain clarity around what’s keeping you stuck so you can move toward lasting change.

Many of us come to periods in our lives when we feel overwhelmed, confused or immobilized by our circumstances and our feelings. Or we reach a point in life when we know in our gut that something has to change, but we just don’t know where to begin. Doubt and negative self-talk can make us feel stuck. Sometimes we struggle with feelings of sadness, anger, shame or anxiety and can feel very alone in that struggle. Having a safe place to talk and a safe, non-judgmental person to talk to is key to healing and moving beyond the “stuck place”.

My experience is in couples/relationship, parenting support and individual challenges (i.e. grief/loss, divorce, postpartum, phobias, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress).
Let's face it, finding the right therapist can feel a lot like online dating. Sifting through a sea of bios, trying to get a sense of who will be the right fit for your therapeutic journey. There are plenty of great therapists out there, and we all have something different to offer. You're right to invest this much time and energy in finding the perfect match because the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors for your progress. In fact, studies show that a good therapist-client relationship can improve therapy outcomes by up to 30%. So, keep reading to decide if we might be the a "therapeutic match"...

I have been working in private practice for just over 5 years helping adults, teens, couples, and families.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk to blossom” -Anais Nin. I can appreciate how difficult it is to make the first steps in entering into a therapeutic relationship. Telling our stories takes tremendous courage and strength. We can trick ourselves into believing that it would be easier to remain silent. We all hit a point in our lives where we need extra guidance, a genuine ear, or a safe place to open up. I create a safe and open space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and stories. I combine several therapeutic techniques, to allow you the freedom to share your journey.

Wading through therapist profiles seems like an exhausting chore with no guaranteed pay-off. But so, too, does white-knuckling it through another week. You're "on," buzzing with anticipation, racing to stay two steps ahead of an impending yet unnameable fear that's nearly always in your chest. Then, you're "off," floating in a sea of numbness, viewing your loved ones as if through a wall of plexiglass. You've analyzed your past and you're doing life "right," so why does it feel like an unending performance of "I'm fine"?

You might be carrying a lot right now. Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t quiet down, feeling stuck in your thoughts, being hard on yourself, or just not feeling like yourself lately. Life transitions, relationship challenges, or the impact of past experiences may also be making things feel heavier than usual. But you don’t have to navigate all of this alone.
I work with those who are looking for a space to slow things down and feel understood. My goal is to be present with you in a way that feels supportive and collaborative, helping you move forward in a direction that feels more grounded, clear, and aligned with your values.

Marriage Counselling
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
