Research towards my book "Multidimensional Healing" soon to be published by Austin Macauley revealed that unresolved childhood trauma underlies many common mental, emotional & physical health issues such as PTSD, HDD, anxiety, depression, chronic hypertension & auto-immune diseases. Therefore, I have trained in the trauma resolution methods EMDR, Internal
Family
Systems & Somatic Experiencing designed to reactivate embodied psychic trauma & facilitate its release. These methods are life-changing when they release the trauma blocking the flow of vitality, love and well-being.

My philosophy is Existential, meaning that we are free and therefore responsible for our choices, We are the authors of our lives, and we design the pathways we follow. My basic premise is that we are not victims of circumstance because, to a large extent, we are what we choose to be. Life is a cycle of transitions and experiences, presenting opportunities and challenges. Often the most important life lessons comes from our suffering. My aim is to assist people to develop their meaning and purpose, by encouraging them to explore options, in order to achieve a more meaningful existence.

My practice is informed by an Integrated Mental Health perspective, which always considers the individual's mental, emotional, and physical health, as well as their connection to
family
, friends, and community, and their personal sense of purpose in life as being important to ongoing resilience and well-being.
I have many years of experience working with individuals and families who are dealing with a wide range of issues which we can all experience during our lifetimes. This has provided me with learning opportunities that allow me to see your experiences in the perspective of your individual situation, the supports you have in place, and the contributing factors to the level of your distress. I work with difficult life challenges, such as mental health challenges, painful and traumatic experiences, grief and loss, separation/ divorce, reconciliation, parenting concerns, victims of abuse and violence, and work/life stressors.

Hello! As a psychotherapist (RP), I respond to the person or
family
in front of me – our struggles are similar, and each of us is unique. My style is warm, supportive, and informative. I draw on a variety of approaches to support clients, though I do bring an attachment and trauma-informed lens. I work with children, adolescents and adults. I bring over 13 years as a yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda educator and silent retreat facilitator with a large toolkit of mindfulness and somatic techniques to help. If you’re looking to sift through your inner experience with compassion, levity and thoughtfulness, we may be a fit.

Family
Systems, Mindfullness and Compassion-Focused.
I will provide empathic listening while helping you explore your feelings and concerns at a pace that is right for you. Speaking to a therapist often makes us feel vulnerable. It is important for me that you feel safe and heard in our sessions so that we can build a therapeutic relationship that promotes growth. Together we can establish goals, unpack your strengths, and develop greater self-compassion with the aim of fostering positive change.

Hello and welcome! I appreciate your time and consideration as you search for a therapist that fits your needs. I work from a gentle and curious stance, aware that each person brings with them a unique history, identity and experience that deserves a safe space to unpack and explore. I have a strong interest in the areas of anxiety, neurodiversity (ADHD, autism), attachment and relational trauma, life transitions, stress management, relationship and
family
challenges, self-esteem, and social justice issues. I understand how challenging and freeing it can be to process your identity, and that it is not always a linear path.

Grounded in a client-centred, attachment-based framework, I draw on evidenced based therapies of: Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT), Mindfulness, Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Internal
Family
Systems (IFS).
During times of stress our experiences can seem confusing and overwhelming. Having a safe space to express our thoughts out loud helps bring clarity to our experience. Whether you are working through a current stressor or an older wound, identifying your thoughts and feelings helps you understand your unmet needs. I work with clients to identify longstanding automatic attachment patterns that may be maintaining beliefs and reactions that are no longer helpful and that are getting in the way of attaining fulfillment.

What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
