Communicating with your
partner
is hard. You replay arguments over and over. You feel criticized by your
partner
and do not feel heard. The idea of voicing your needs feels overwhelming and frustrating. As time has passed, talking to your
partner
has become minimal. There is less sharing of your feelings due to feelings of disappointment of not being heard. Your
partner
and you feel disconnected and lack communication. You are exhausted at working so hard to have a genuine
relationship
and it feels like nothing is working. What you want is to feel you can confide in your
partner
, feel loved, feel heard and supported.

To me, therapy is a warm, comfortable space we build together; it’s an hour outside of your everyday life, a shared place we can process whatever needs to be processed from the safety of. Care, compassion, non-judgement and a genuine therapeutic
relationship
are the foundations of our work together and are my main priorities. My focus is always holistic: we have to look at every layer - from the cues your body and nervous system are giving you to the societal messages surrounding you - to reach not just the bandaids but the deeper roots of distress and, ultimately, growth.

I work with individuals,
couples
and families and help them to identify negative patterns and codependent dynamics that bring them pain and result in disconnection and isolation.
I help adults struggling with anxiety, depression and adaptation to life challenges and losses. My focus is on creating a warm, non-judgemental and safe environment where you can unpack your painful experiences and examine emotions, thoughts and behaviours that might contribute to your suffering and isolation. My goal in psychotherapy is to help you to find balance and wholeness by accepting and incorporating all authentic parts of yourself, including shadows. A painful experience is an opportunity to wake up from familiar negative patterns and change them once and for all.

I take a holistic and collaborative approach when providing psychotherapy to individuals,
couples
, and families. I believe that it can be difficult to manage and cope with life’s hardships such as anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, and challenges within our interpersonal relationships. I enjoy working from both an attachment-informed and trauma-informed perspective to help my clients process difficult emotions. I value the uniqueness of each person and tailor therapeutic approaches to best fit individual needs.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
