Is there something you can't stop thinking about, like the
loss
of a loved one, the end of a relationship, an incident at work or a big life change? You might feel anxiety, shame, or guilt, and held back from doing the things you used to love. You might be feeling tired all the time or have negative thoughts, aches, or pains that you just can't get rid of. You know that you need to talk to someone about everything you've been through but don't want to burden your friends or are worried they might judge you. You're trying to make sense of what you've been through and want to start feeling like you're living again.

Life isn't easy, it's filled with joys and sufferings, and it can easily bog you down. You can feel lost, confused, scared, exhausted, and alone. This is valid and it is what makes our life experience unique, oftentimes so unique that it feels that no one can understand us. Our work together will create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood; a space where you can truly be you and embrace who you are. I will be with you every step of the way as you navigate your healing process and build a life worth living.

Life can be hard sometimes and can feel even harder when we think we have to do it alone or “be strong”. Vulnerability takes courage. Let us witness that courage, and support you through challenging times. Together we can learn to find balance, tolerate that which is intolerable, and learn to co-exist with any and all our emotions. At J.A.G. Village we know
grief
,
mourning
, and
bereavement
very well. We know that it can be very disorientating. Our role is to help you navigate this new terrain while also supporting and bearing witness to the experiences you have along the way.

Educational and therapeutic support have been provided to children/adolescents (ADD, FASD, learning disabilities, suicide ideation, developmental issues, academic underachievement,
loss
,
bereavement
, illness, abuse, at-risk).
A key element in choosing a professional is the level of ease and comfort that exists between you and your therapist. I am flexible, easy to talk to and have great interpersonal skills. My belief is that change management and transformation occur when people make decisions that are strategic and focused. I can assist you in dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, abuse, poor self-image, family problems and other issues that are stopping you from 'living' your life. What about your children? Are they being bullied? Learning development problems? Exhibiting 'at-risk' behaviours? I can help!

The multiple demands on teachers and education staff can cause us to forget about the many parts of ourselves that need attention. We sometimes forget that we are a whole person with our own values and voice that sometimes gets lost in our pursuit of helping others and the system we work in. When we experience burnout, tragedy or
loss
as educators, we feel exhausted and emotional, wondering how we will find the energy to get through the day.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
