My approach is eclectic and I work with both the person’s unconscious using psychoanalytically informed approach & borrow from other’s approaches like DBT,
ACT
,Narrative analysis depending on what works best for each person.
Most of us approach therapy with a mixture of hope & fear, for we desire a change but we also wonder if its truly possible. The reasons that bring you to therapy can vary, it could be depression, anxiety, grief, work related issues, relational issues, identity confusion, self jeopardising patterns or simply wanting to understand oneself better. Therapy helps you slowly but steadily change your unhelpful patterns, gain more clarity about yourself, develop better emotional capacity to digest & make sense of your inner conflicts so you can tackle the external challenges a lot better as well.

Hello! I have been a primarily pediatric registered social worker since 2014. Being a child or youth can be really difficult sometimes, especially following the pandemic. I support children, youth and families who are struggling to cope and need support to process their feelings and difficulties they may have, including a broad range of mental illness, wellness issues and/or social issues. This includes depression, anxieties, bullying/ school issues, caregiver relationship issues, and many more. While challenges can come in all shapes and sizes, you can learn new tools to deal with them.

When we’re caught in the struggle we can feel hopeless. We may notice things that use to help aren’t helping. We may have lost motivation to try, as a result of this. It’s common to get caught in the suggestions of others, or online searching for something that may help. We may not know where to start but know, we don’t want to keep feeling/thinking/living as is. Therapy services can help us find a starting point, then develop a plan and
act
on making change, all while supported by a regulated professional in the field.

My approach draws from a wide range of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT,
ACT
, and IFS Parts-work informed practice to help identify what is and isn't working for you anymore, and work towards finding inner peace.
Life isn't easy, it's filled with joys and sufferings, and it can easily bog you down. You can feel lost, confused, scared, exhausted, and alone. This is valid and it is what makes our life experience unique, oftentimes so unique that it feels that no one can understand us. Our work together will create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood; a space where you can truly be you and embrace who you are. I will be with you every step of the way as you navigate your healing process and build a life worth living.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Counsellors
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
