Art creation and nature based techniques can help you uncover that meaning, find insight and awareness, and develop new ways of living and expressing yourself.
People seek me out for a number of reasons: maybe you're trying to reconcile with death anxiety; experiencing body image concerns like self-esteem, low confidence and body dysmorphia; looking to re-invigorate your self through creativity and connection to nature; building skills for regulation or, wanting to understand yourself and relationships better.

I speak FRENCH - clients I work with have survived traumatic experiences often from childhood and are now ready to begin the work of healing. They may be struggling with symptoms of PTSD, C-PTSD, DID, dissociation and often feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. They may have difficulty trusting others, regulating emotions, or making sense of their past. Many of my clients have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), such as emotional neglect, abuse, or family dysfunction. Some may be survivors of sexual assault, emotional abuse, or interpersonal violence, and carry a deep sense of shame

If you’re looking for a supportive space to slow down, reconnect, and explore the things that may feel difficult to put into words, art therapy can offer you a gentle path forward.
I bring deep care to creating neuro-affirming, inclusive spaces where people feel safe to express themselves and empowered to be their own agents of change. Rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection (to self, others, and the art), my approach fosters attunement, autonomy and self-discovery.

I specialize in supporting people experiencing anxiety or depression in pregnancy/early parenthood as well as early adulthood. Becoming a parent is profoundly life-changing. While we anticipate the joys of parenthood, we can feel blindsided when it gets hard. It can bring up intense, sometimes scary feelings, be overwhelming or lonely. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to understand, process and cope with the changes in your life. By talking about your experiences, you can feel less alone and less overwhelmed, and together we can find ways for you to feel grounded again.

Do you feel stuck in your own head, overwhelmed in relationships, or uncomfortable just being with yourself? Maybe you overthink everything, second-guess your decisions, or feel like you’re never quite enough. You might be carrying stress, anxiety, or low mood that doesn’t seem to go away. Sometimes, these patterns are tied to past experiences you may not even recognize as trauma. Anxiety, depression, irritability, and emotional ups and downs can be signs your system is trying to cope and over time it becomes exhausting, overwhelming and sometimes all consuming.

Art Therapy Counsellors
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
