Is it difficult for you to open up, to recognize your needs or to set boundaries in personal or professional relationships? Therapy can help to discover yourself and to work through relationship challenges including conflicting ideas, balancing different expectations or different cultural backgrounds, and reconnecting, as well as deeper rooted, individual issues originating from relationship trauma, adverse childhood experiences, infidelity, or abuse.

Do you feel like the waves of life have been washing over you, like nothing makes sense, and you can't tell which way is solid ground? Perhaps you've lost interest in the things that brought you joy? Or you feel like you are not participating in life the way everyone else seems to be. Maybe your relationship or marriage seems to bring more stress and tension than the peace and joy it once did? Or work that brought you joy only brings you dread? Perhaps you've lost a loved one and cannot imagine life without them? If any of these resonate with you then I would like to work with you to take the next step.

You might feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or painful relationship issues. Many individuals and couples seek therapy when communication breaks down, trust has been damaged, or they feel disconnected from their partner. Clients often want to better understand their emotions, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and feel more grounded and confident. Some are navigating challenges such as trauma, infidelity, fertility struggles, postpartum changes, or major life transitions and are seeking meaningful, lasting change.

You keep things running for everyone else — but underneath, you’re running on EMPTY. You show up. You take care of things. You do what needs to get done. But inside, you may be carrying more than anyone sees. Do you do more than your share just to keep things calm? Think carefully about how to say things so no one gets upset? Put your own NEEDS aside because it feels easier than speaking up? From the outside, it may look like you have it together. But inside, you feel drained, stuck in your head, or tired of always adjusting. You might think: Why do I keep going along with things I’m not okay with? Why is it so hard to say what I

◑‿◐ You or your child keep moving through life, but deep down, something still feels missing. For some, it is lying awake with an anxious mind, for others, it is the weight of depression, the sting of trauma, or stress that makes every day harder. You notice anger rising when you least expect it, or habits you wish you could change holding on too tightly. My clients also share that they feel trapped by perfectionism, low self-esteem, or relationships that never feel fulfilling. Therapy can be a place to understand why you feel stuck, reconnect with who you are, and begin building a calmer, stronger, and more confident life.

People usually reach out when they've been struggling for a while or when things have recently come to a head. I work with adults and teens (15+) facing anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and other challenges that don't fit neatly into a category. I also help couples trying to fix communication or figure out relationship next steps. Some have been in therapy before but felt it only scratched the surface. Others are coming for the first time. Most people come in with a sense that something is not right and a readiness for that to change. Together, we work to understand what keeps you stuck and build strategies for lasting change.

Are you tired of functioning and coping instead of actually healing? If you've done the work; read the books, listened to the podcasts, even tried therapy already and still feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected from yourself, you are not broken, you just haven't healed at the root yet. I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, heartbreak, divorce, and major life transitions, who may feel lost or confused, but are ready for deep, lasting change and transformation - not just coping strategies.

FAQ - About Multiracial Counselling
Why might mixed race or multiracial identity be important to address in therapy?
Mixed race or multiracial identity can shape how you understand yourself and relate to others around you, so it is natural that this identity may be important to speak about in therapy. If you identify as mixed race, you may find it helpful to speak with a therapist about identity, belonging, racism, cultural disconnection, or feeling pressure to “choose” one part of your background over another. A therapist who understands or shares your mixed race identity may be better able to support conversations about your experiences. A shared background may also strengthen the therapeutic alliance, which refers to the working relationship between you and your therapist and is tied to positive therapy outcomes.

How can a mixed race therapist support couples counselling or family therapy?
Like other therapists, mixed race therapists can support couples and families with a broad range of concerns, including communication challenges, conflict, parenting, life transitions, and relationship stress. However, therapists who personally identify as mixed race may be especially helpful when race, culture, or ethnicity are part of the concerns being discussed, such as when partners come from different cultural backgrounds and are navigating differing personal or community expectations. A mixed race therapist may also help couples and families explore how identity shapes each person’s experience in the relationship. Family members, for instance, may not experience race or culture in the same way, even within the same household. Therapy can offer a space to talk through these differences.

How might I inquire about a therapist's experience working with mixed race or multiracial clients?
The initial consultation, which is typically a brief phone or video call, can be a good time to ask about a therapist’s experience working with multiracial clients. You can ask specific questions, such as “Do you have experience working with multiracial clients?” or broader questions, such as “How do you approach cultural identity in your practice?” As sessions begin, it can be helpful to notice how the therapist responds to your concerns. A good therapist should respond with respect, curiosity, and cultural humility. If you feel dismissed or misunderstood, or if you find yourself having to explain your beliefs or cultural context constantly, it may be worth considering another therapist.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of mixed race therapists?
The directory of mixed race therapists includes therapists who have shared their mixed race or multiracial identity in their profiles, as well as therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with mixed race clients, regardless of their own background. Not all therapists choose to disclose this information on their profile, and these individuals may not appear in search results for this reason.
