As a working mother who is a recovering perfectionist with ADHD, I understand how complex these problems can be to cope with and overcome.
You are an adult that struggles with problems that may interfere with your relationships and day to day functioning such as anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-esteem. You hold yourself to higher standards than you hold others and feel disappointed when you do not achieve perfection. You may be a partner, parent, or caregiver for other people who you prioritize above yourself. You probably recognize that you have needs that are not getting met, but you struggle to even identify what those needs are. You are looking for solutions that will lead to lasting improvement and you are desperate to feel better.

You're a woman between 39-50ish and something just feels OFF. It's definitely physical: the hot flashes, waking up in the night, can't remember anything, the weight gain, but it's also emotional: the mood swings, irritability, the burnout, the lack of motivation, the sense of just not feeling like yourself. You wonder if you're just "getting old", or maybe your hormones are out of whack? You are doing ALL the right things. You exercise, you eat clean, you have good relationships, a career, and just when you're starting to feel like you've got it figured out, the rollercoaster of emotions hits you. It's so incredibly frustrating.

As a counsellor who works with adolescents and adults, I specialize in the treatment of mood disorders including depression and anxiety, anger issues, addictions, trauma, ADHD, low self-esteem, and assertiveness development.
Life is not always easy. Difficult times are needlessly intensified when we choose to journey alone, rather than in partnership and community. Sometimes we journey alone because we feel ashamed in asking for help. As if asking for help is admitting weakness. I believe the exact opposite is true. I believe the act of asking for help is an act of courage and exemplifies great strength. Seeking support in a time of need is not an admission of weakness, but an honest and reflective admission of our humanity. If you’re human, you will struggle at times in your life. This is completely normal.

My areas of experience include depression, PTSD, anxiety, trauma, stress, panic, OCD, and ADHD.
Are you ready to do the deeper work? If you often feel anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, or sense that past experiences still influence you today, you’re not alone. I work with individuals who want to understand the why behind patterns such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, or fear of rejection. These patterns can influence how we interact with daily life/relationships. I believe healing happens through curiosity, compassion, and patience, rather than pressure to push past or ignore what you’re feeling. Together, we gently explore what lies beneath the surface, supporting greater clarity, emotional safety, and trust in yourself.

Common client concerns that I've helped people work through: - ADHD - doubts with religion - suicide - family disputes - infidelity
Pornography addiction. Anger management. Time management. Difficulties with your relationships be it with a spouse, a child, or a parent. These are all concerns that we can tackle. There are very few Muslim male therapists out there that have both training in Western psychology and Islamic psychology. Before being able to solve a problem, we need to first address where the problem is coming from. If you're able to do some of this before starting counselling, you'll be giving yourself a head start. Ask yourself, what am I doing right, and what can be improved.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
