Change on the outside comes from healing from within. Life sometimes does not go the way we expect, and it can be difficult to navigate when we feel disconnected from ourselves and others. I provide a safe space for clients to tell their stories, understand their inner world, increase self-awareness, and heal within. I have experience working with clients with issues related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, trauma, emotional awareness and regulation, attachment, inner critic, boundaries, and interpersonal relationships.

When your darkness looms, you must venture inward as opposed to looking outward. The light lives within and we will venture together to find it and bring it out. I believe in a holistic approach because every person has what they require to heal inside. Sometimes, people go to therapy and come out feeling the same as they went in, with no new perspective. I believe this is because the person hasn’t been asked the right questions or challenged. I endeavour to ensure my clients see a new perspective, develop insight into their patterns and behaviours, and take responsibility for themselves in life.

I am a trauma focused therapist.
Not Available: You may be here because how you usually cope is not working right now. Sometimes we can feel 'stuck' or a 'burden' to those around us. I have a passion for working with individuals, youth, and families who are currently or have previously experienced; interpersonal conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma or complex trauma, grief, and issues with coping in daily life. Every client is different and I strive to work collaboratively with you to find a comfortable rhythm that best suits you. I focus on building a strong and trusting relationship together and knowing what you are getting into will help mediate those fears.

As a therapist, I believe that safety and connection are necessary foundations for healing to take place. I strive to create a compassionate, non-judgemental and supportive space for clients to explore challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, loneliness, life transitions, gender identity, sexuality, cultural identity, immigration, chronic pain/fatigue, transition, or grief and loss. I approach the exploration of healing with nuance, care and curiosity, and a practice embedded in anti-oppressive and trauma-informed values.

As we move through life, we come across experiences/challenges that may bring up old patterns and feelings. Sometimes old patterns can get in the way of us living up to our full potential. Sometimes our emotions feel too overwhelming to understand and process what is happening in our lives. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe and collaborative space where you can be seen, heard, and witnessed, allowing you to unpack your lived experiences free of judgment. Through our work together we will explore what has been working well for you and where you would like to see growth and re-alignment with your true self.

There may be times where a person may feel so overwhelmed by their feelings or external circumstances that they are crippled from living the life that they desire and yearn for. These feelings or external circumstances may present themselves as negative thoughts, anxiety, depression, traumatic events, family dynamics and so much more. There is a need and desire for a safe space where one can process through external circumstances and how they impacted them; navigate through those difficult and overwhelming emotions with empathy and compassion; and where they can be their authentic selves without the worry of judgement or rejection.

You may have noticed a pattern you're unhappy with or a specific situation that replays in your mind. I WORK WITH PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE. Life can often get in our way, and things can catch up with us and we suddenly realize this is not the life we want for ourselves. Painful, emotional feelings from our past can affect our self-esteem, all our relationships, esp intimate ones, and conflict occurs. Relationships are at our core, and understanding ourselves oft through the lens of difficult relationships help us learn how to be more compassionate, nurture self-love, be better communicators, and to create more trust and belief in oneself. I am often referred to as the "Happiness Locator" & Self Esteem Coach.

How can I find a therapist in North York?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
