Using EMDR therapy Ontario, somatic therapy, and trauma informed approaches, we process experiences that remain “stuck” and continue to drive emotional distress or physical symptoms.
Our clients are often adults and adolescents living with chronic pain, trauma, anxiety, depression, and persistent mind body symptoms such as fatigue, IBS, headaches, tension, and stress related physical symptoms. Many feel overwhelmed, disconnected from their body, or discouraged after medical treatments have not fully helped. They seek therapy to understand the root causes of their symptoms, regulate their nervous system, and reduce both physical and emotional suffering. Their goal is to restore a sense of safety, reconnect mind and body, and return to life with greater ease, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

I utilize somatic approaches to help you bring awareness to dysregulation in your body, bringing calm to hypervigilance and movement to frozen bodily states.
My goal is to help you bring curiosity and compassion to your experiences, including struggles with anxiety, depression, negative thinking patterns, dysfunctional behaviours, and relationship challenges. Using a trauma-informed approach, we will work together to better understand how your struggles stem from the past, while making room for new coping strategies. Trauma leads us to feeling on edge, panicky, numb, self-critical, and defensive in relationships. I am here to help you break free of these cycles and develop new ways of relating to yourself and others, as well as build capacities for inner strength and resilience.

Using somatic therapy, EMDR, IFS, EFT, and attachment-based work, I offer trauma-informed approaches and meet you where you are.
Change can be hard, even when we know what we need to do. It can be frustrating to repeat patterns we’ve outgrown, doing the very things we’ve told ourselves not to do, and wondering why insight alone hasn’t been enough. Maybe you’re noticing that even with all this awareness, something deeper - something in the body, is still holding on and needing more support. The strategies that once helped you cope might now feel like they’re getting in the way of the life, relationships, or peace you’re longing for. Reaching out and taking that first step toward change takes courage and I'm so glad you’re here.

You need someone who understands that "just relax" isn't helpful, that your brain works differently, and that healing isn't linear. You're ready to build resilience, regulate your emotions, and rediscover the truest version of yourself.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
