As a registered psychotherapist in Canada I thrive to understand my clients’ concerns and issues primarily. I provide therapy and counseling to many clients all around the world. Many of my clients are referred by their family doctor, friends or family. My private office is where I invite most of my clients. However, I also offer online psychotherapy and counseling by Teletherapy. In our first sessions I start with a brief assessment through a short casual conversation. Then we talk about any psychological, physical or relationship issues you would like to share. My approach is REBT, Mindfulness, systemic family and couple.

As the innovative Brené Brown once said "when we deny our story, it defines us, but when we own our story, we can write a brave new ending". We all have a story that's filled with difficult times, hardship and unique experiences that have shaped who you are now. What happens next is up to you, as you have more control than you might think. if you're ready to take the next step in changing your life for the better then I invite you to allow me to be a part of that, where I can offer a safe space free of judgement and criticism. Instead I can help guide you toward your goals offering clarity, perspective and empathic understanding.

Life is a journey with unexpected challenges and at times suffering. We all need supports and strategies to rediscover our inner strengths. I work in a partnership with you as we explore and unpack your relationships, your roles and your sense of self. There is always hope and meaning even in the darkest places. Also in all relationships there are times when one or both partners feel hopeless, frustrated, betrayed or deeply hurt by the other. In both individual and couple counseling we work together to develop new techniques towards not only coping, but towards finding renewed hope and meaning. I love what I do!

I analyze a set of your childhood memories/dreams you bring in to figure you out FAST: personality style, inner dynamics, root issues which I explain in a session that you can record, then EMDR and NLP to architect change - the work. We consider various angles including nutrition, lifestyle factors, cognitive style, other variables that may be relevant. I deal with the gamut of problems but specialize in problems that have been unresponsive to conventional psychotherapy: OCD, Anorexia, etc. I am Jungian, also using Eastern wisdom, Ericksonian therapy, and the work of Ken Wilber to engineer change on an unconscious level.

We're born into a world of stories about reality and about us. Our friends and our parents tell them to us. School, work and media tell them to us. And we start telling them to ourselves. In a time of mass media deception, false role models, unreal images, and dysfunctional families, our inner truth gets more and more hidden. The re-discovery of who we are is crucial for living a meaningful life. In Groundwork we become co-coonspirators in finding the real story about you, finding the authentic grounds of your existence, and helping you choose to be real.

You are here because you are not alone. Many individuals prefer Hypnotherapy or Brainspotting over traditional talk therapy because it can assist in overcoming subconscious obstacles and accomplishing objectives. Your narrative encompasses more than the symptom itself; it entails the unconscious dynamics, emotions, programming, and conflicts that have led to it. An old Chinese proverb says, "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day, teach him how to fish, and he'll eat for the rest of his life." This concept is akin to Hypnotherapy and Brainspotting, the potential of the subconscious mind is boundless once it is unleashed.

My ideal client is willing to engage in self-reflection, explore the deeper existential issues related to his/her predicament, and discover the pathways of actualizing his/her potential and dream. Such a client can be a new college graduate struggling for a better understanding of her self-identity or a senior questioning his life's meaning. The issues I am best suited to addressing are both the dark sides of the human condition-such as depression, anxiety, anger, loss, suffering, and death-and the bright sides of personal growth and flourishing.

How can I find a therapist in North York?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
