Whether you're navigating anxiety, OCD, weight loss, parenting or relationship difficulties, or just feeling off and unsure why, therapy can be a place to slow down and make sense of it all.
Hi there, have you been feeling hijacked by your own thoughts - like no matter how hard you try, you just can’t shake the worry or guilt? Or perhaps you're dealing with burnout, or other life stressors. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out alone. I am a compassionate and down-to-earth therapist. I care deeply about the people I work with, and I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. It often starts with noticing, naming, and gently shifting the patterns that are keeping you stuck. I’ll bring warmth, genuine caring, curiosity, and the occasional sense of humour as we figure things out together at your pace.

Louise Erdrich wrote: “Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and being alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You have to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes too near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself that you tasted as many as you could.” Let's start your healing journey together, fellow passenger of Life.

A core belief that informs my approach to therapy is that there is an inherent goodness within all of us and that we are all seeking ways to realize and cultivate this goodness. Sometimes in this pursuit, we find ourselves stuck in a place that we never expected or anticipated (often not even by our own doing). In this place, it may seem like the harder we try, the deeper we burrow ourselves into somewhere we actually don’t want to be. My hope is that my work consists of coming alongside others who find themselves stuck in these places and collaborate to find ways out and make progress towards realizing the goodness inside.

Together, we’ll build self-esteem, strengthen emotional safety, and find calm and peace again. It’s not about changing who you are; it’s about finding the new you amongst the journey you have faced.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
