I hold a Masters in Counselling and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family .
Our landscape has changed. Our capacity for contribution is tied to our capacity to navigate life with confidence. We live in an era of unprecedented stress, pressure and overwhelm. A lack of confidence and increased disconnection is a strong predictor of overall dissatisfaction in life and decreased mental health. People are struggling more than ever, to navigate their life and need real solutions. Most therapy scratches the surface and leaves us frustrated and hopeless. Our method is different. We provide a practical, evidence-based framework to build confidence and connection quickly, and for the long.

I hold a Master's degree in clinical counseling and I'm a member in good standing at the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy .
Hi! I'm Glenda. Would you like your relationship to be so much more than it is? Maybe you've been fighting with your partner or relative for years or even decades and would like some help so that you can see the joy in your relationship again. Perhaps you are in the middle of a separation or divorce. Or you've experienced a tragic loss. Infertility? Illness? Difficult in-laws or toxic coworkers? Complicated grief? Do you feel alone? Are you wondering where God is in all of this, as many of us do? I would be honored if you would allow me to support you.

What if your or your partner’s anger is actually a desire for a deeper connection? It’s a paradox that angry reactions push our partners/ family /friends away when what we need is closeness. Hurt or fear could be behind anger. Or perhaps underlying depression, anxiety or trauma. Anger could be expressed harshly, silently or many ways in between; either way it builds walls. Whatever stands in the way of better connections can be uprooted and healed. Negative emotions and walls of anger don’t have to remain. You can overcome them and build the relationships you have longed for.

I have adopted an integrative, evidence-based approach practicing from a client and family centered lens that uses both trauma and attachment informed care.
Children are constantly evolving and growing and during their journey they sometimes need some support to encourage and help them to thrive in their relationships and connections with others; or to develop strategies to support emotional regulation, social skills, life skills, anxiety reduction, concentration and focus, or processing of traumatic events. During this time parents are also growing and evolving. Parenting can be both the most challenging and rewarding experience we have but sometimes during those challenging times we need some support.

It can be difficult trying to cope with distressing times on your own. Sometimes friends and family can only help so much. My role is to give you caring, non-judgmental support so that you can make sense of your emotions and gain a clearer picture of how your past plays a role in your current relationships. You will begin by telling me about yourself and the reasons why you've come to therapy and then we can explore together new ways of reflecting and interacting that will lead to a more fulfilling life.

Hello. My name is Courtney, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) currently doing my student internship. I know first hand what brings us to the world of counselling. I have struggled at times in my life with mental health challenges such as anxiety and relational challenges with my partner. I am also a stepparent and know the love and complexities a blended family can bring. I also have a passion for working with actors and artists experiencing blocks or challenges such as imposter syndrome. These blocks can get in the way of our full potential. It would be an honour to be part of your journey.

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
