Sexual Abuse Therapists in Napanee, ON
Welcome, I’m Alicia. I use EMDR therapy to process trauma and experiences that still shape how you feel, think, and respond. This work targets what remains stuck beneath the surface and creates real, lasting change. Together, we make sense of patterns, build self-trust, and shift how you relate to yourself and others. My style is direct, grounded, and attuned, offering a space that is both supportive and focused, where meaningful work can unfold.
Alongside trauma work, I support athletes and creatives in clearing blocks, accessing flow, and performing with clarity and confidence.

You’ve spent much of your life taking care of others, meeting expectations, and pushing through—yet deep down, you feel exhausted, stuck, and disconnected from yourself. Maybe you grew up in a home where you had to be “the strong one,” where your needs weren’t always seen or met. Now, you find yourself overworking, questioning yourself, or feeling like no matter how much you do, it’s never quite enough. You don’t have to live in survival mode forever. I work with those recovering from difficult childhoods, navigating caretaking burnout, and breaking free from cycles of self-doubt, overworking, and people-pleasing.

I am equally passionate about supporting adults living with anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief, loss, or eating disorders. My work is informed by my extensive clinical experience working with these populations.

New Clients Welcome. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups who feel caught in repeating patterns in their thoughts, emotions, or relationships. Many struggle with anxiety, grief, intrusive thoughts, addiction, or ongoing conflict with partners, family members, or children. They may have spent years trying to understand themselves or each other but still feel stuck. They are often ready to move beyond insight alone and approach these patterns in a new, more effective way, especially in how they relate to themselves and one another.

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
