Parenting and growing up both come with challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming. You might be a parent noticing your child struggling with anxiety, emotional outbursts, school stress, or self-esteem concerns. Some children and teens feel misunderstood, have difficulty regulating emotions, or are navigating ADHD. Young adults may also be working through relationships, identity, and life transitions. What families often want most is support in understanding what their child is experiencing and practical ways to help them feel calmer, more confident, and better able to cope.

You might be feeling stuck in your relationship, caught in patterns of conflict, disconnection, or miscommunication that are hard to break. Maybe trust has been impacted, or you’re finding it difficult to feel close, understood, or on the same page. Relationship challenges can feel heavy, especially when you’re trying your best but nothing seems to shift. Many people begin couples therapy when they’re ready to reconnect, rebuild trust, and communicate in a way that feels more supportive and secure. I also work with individuals and youth (12+) navigating anxiety, depression & life transitions, offering a space to feel more grounded.

Life can feel especially heavy when you’re carrying grief, moving through divorce, caring for others, living with chronic pain or illness, or trying to manage the pressures of work, parenting, and relationships.
Having experienced challenges such as separation and single parenting, I understand what it feels like to face uncertainty with no clear path forward. I also know the pressures of the professional world, having worked in business before becoming a therapist. These experiences inform the compassion and perspective I bring to my work.

As a forensic therapist specializing in high-conflict separation, parenting coordination, mediation, co-parenting counselling, parental alienation, and custody access evaluations and assessments, I've worked with hundreds of families who have struggled through the separation process to become successful co-parents. I also work with individuals or groups who have to deal with high conflict people (You know the ones. The ones who really should be in therapy but won't go, but instead create chaos everywhere), or relationships to develop better coping and conflict resolution skills, as well as those with ADHD or late diagnosed ASD.

Whether you're navigating infidelity, working through the pain of divorce, or hoping to strengthen your relationship before marriage, therapy with me is a collaborative, supportive space.
Many couples come to therapy when the relationship no longer feels like it used to. Communication has broken down, the same arguments keep repeating, or you feel more like roommates than partners. Maybe trust has been damaged, resentment has built up, or you're navigating separation, parenting stress, or family conflict. You miss feeling close, understood, and connected. As a couples therapist, I help partners rebuild trust, improve communication, and strengthen emotional connection. Change is possible, and you don't have to find your way back to each other alone.

Divorce Counsellors
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
