Spirituality Therapists in Mississauga, ON
For clients who value spirituality, I offer a space where your beliefs are not only respected, they’re honoured and integrated into the healing process.
There was a time in my own life when I realized how deeply people long not just to be heard but to be truly seen. That realization changed the way I listen, the way I show up, and the way I walk alongside those in pain. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with over 16 years of experience helping individuals and couples heal from trauma, reconnect in relationships, and rediscover their God-given worth. Whether you’re carrying wounds from the past, feeling stuck in cycles you don’t know how to break, or longing to repair a strained connection, my role is to walk with you, not ahead of you. “Once in a while, everyone needs a helping hand”

We all come from different walks of life, each of us carrying a unique story. Being unique means that we also bring different outlooks on the world, which deserve to be appreciated in their own light. As a therapist, I see my role as someone who walks alongside you, never telling you how to feel, but helping you explore how life experiences shape our feelings and worldview. Through this, I aim to support you to navigate the world with greater confidence and insight into yourself.

Sometimes we come to therapy knowing something deeper is going on. You may feel stuck in patterns that don't fully make sense, disconnected from parts of yourself, or aware that your body is still carrying the imprint of stress, trauma, or long-held emotional experiences — even when life looks "fine" on the outside.

Individuals and couples often seek a space where faith and healing come together, whether navigating trauma, relationship strain, or preparing for marriage with intention. My approach is grounded in Scripture and enriched by neuroscience, recognizing the mind’s capacity for renewal (neuroplasticity). Using evidence based approaches such as cognitive restructuring, EFT, and DBT informed skills, I support emotional regulation, secure attachment, and transformed thinking. With compassion and purpose, I walk alongside clients toward restoration, resilience, and Christ-centered wholeness.

Healing is not about erasing pain but learning to coexist with it, finding peace and strength within life's inevitable struggles. As a psychotherapist, I create a space where healing is approached holistically, honouring the mind, body, and spirit. I believe therapy is more than symptom management; it's a journey toward deeper self-awareness, emotional regulation, and connection with one's authentic self. Healing happens in moments of presence, in learning to trust oneself, and in embracing the complexity of the human experience.

Growing up in a Caribbean family taught me to serve others. Embracing Islam strengthened my passion for helping others. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients, inspired by the kindness of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. When I experienced a loss of purpose and an inability to tap into my inner strength, I had the blessing of meeting a female mentor Dr Tamara Gray, who gently guided me by encouraging me to re-write my narrative of my sensitivity as my power rather than a weakness.

One of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story." I have dedicated my life to building a practice where people can come to a place of peace, where you feel comfortable and safe to unburden yourself about the most intimate and personal aspects of your life without the fear of being judged or shamed. This process allows you to shed the layers that keep you going in the same cycles and help you start a new, more fulfilling chapter in your life. Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

I take a holistic and collaborative approach in exploring deeper emotions and thought patterns in past and present experiences.

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” -Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. I believe that every person has inherent worth and is on a journey of healing, growth, and love. We all come with our own challenges and strengths. However, there may have been things that have made life not okay for you and that has brought on a layer of challenges that are heavy to hold alone. My commitment is to meet individuals, couples, and families in their process of making sense of the mysteries and difficulties in which we find ourselves and to offer encouragement, comfort, and hope.

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviours. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
