After 30 years of providing psychotherapy, I am even more certain that assisting people to a better place of well-being is an honouring process. I believe that people usually come to a therapy process because despite their efforts, their roadmap in their lives doesn't apply anymore. Therapeutic conversations can provide an opportunity to explore life experiences and create new awareness of choices and strategies to resolve the difficulties that you may be experiencing.

Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual—sometimes it just piles on responsibilities. Therapy can be the place to set down the overwhelm and sort through what feels too heavy to carry alone. It’s a supportive space to feel heard, understood, and encouraged. You may be navigating stress, anxiety, low mood, health & caregiving challenges, grief, or the unseen, unexpected burdens of motherhood—exhaustion, postpartum changes, shifting identity, and endless responsibilities. Therapy offers balance, resilience, and the opportunity to reconnect with yourself, cultivate self-compassion, and move toward a more authentic, fulfilling life.

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights is a virtual clinic specializing in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach explores the root causes of symptoms by uncovering and understanding underlying emotions through evidence-based treatment. Through collaborative dialogue, we examine unconscious thoughts and emotions shaped from childhood to the present. We work to relieve symptoms by understanding how these patterns affect current experiences, and create targeted strategies for meaningful change long-term.

***NOW ACCEPTING CLIENTS FOR PHONE/VIDEO*** It’s a privilege and honour to be doing this work, and to walk alongside clients on their respective healing journeys. I believe that everyone is the expert of their own lives and life experiences. By working collaboratively and through meaning-making, I aim to support clients in connecting with their needs, dreams, hopes, as well as to the answers I believe each person has inside them. My approach is trauma-informed, non-directive, strength-based, and client-centered. Healing, the discovery of possibilities, one’s resilience, and one's gifts can all be part of the therapy process.

I believe every person has an innate capacity for growth, resilience, and healing, even when life feels overwhelming or hope seems distant. Many of my clients carry self-doubt or emotional pain, or they feel disconnected. In our work together, I create a safe, compassionate space where you feel seen and understood, as we explore the patterns that shape your thoughts and emotions, uncover the needs beneath them, and build new ways of coping and connecting. I see therapy not as fixing what’s “wrong,” but as honouring the strength you've already shown and nurturing new possibilities for growth, self-discovery, well-being, and balance.

If you’re ready for change, whether individually or as a couple, book a free consult through my website or reach out here.
Pain is a part of life, but suffering is optional. When we give attention to our emotions and experiences, we can better manage pain and reduce suffering. Many of us who grew up in Muslim or BIPOC families were taught that being strong meant never crying, asking for help, or sharing how we truly feel. We learned to keep going and push our feelings aside. The truth is, healing can only begin when we allow ourselves to feel and make sense of our pain. Therapy offers a way to heal, restore emotional well-being, and bring more peace to your life and relationships.

On the outside you look unstoppable: confident, independent, the one who always keeps it together. But no one sees that beneath the surface, you feel like you drowning in a secret struggle. You’re exhausted from fighting invisible battles. Perhaps you grapple with trust issues, irritability, grief, inexplicable anxiety, feelings of detachment from those around you, or even yourself. Or maybe you are stuck in cycles of high adrenaline followed by exhaustion, relying on caffeine, sleep aids, or binge eating just to get through the day. What once helped you to survive has now become a pattern that is seriously keeping you stuck.

As human we are Spirit beings with a Mind and Body. creating a balance between these three elements is essential to live a healthier life. Issues like depression, anxiety, or compulsive thought and behaviors needs a treatment plan that includes these three elements. We are also governed by our cultural values and norms, so providing culturally and religiously sensitive therapy is very important especially with interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts.

Marriage Counselling

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
