Life can be challenging. When something throws us for a loop, our usual coping strategies may not be enough and we may find ourselves feeling lost, afraid or unsure of what to do and how to manage. If you are experiencing a crisis or major life transition such as job loss, diagnosis of illness or a chronic health condition, marital or relationship crises (i.e., infidelity, abuse, separation), psychotherapy and clinical counselling can help you regain your bearings and cultivate novel coping strategies to get you back on your feet.

My ideal client seeks a culturally sensitive therapist for diverse challenges like anxiety, stress, or relationships, spanning various cultural backgrounds, including those without religious affiliations. They desire a safe, inclusive space where personal beliefs are respected. Goals encompass coping strategies, self-awareness, and support without pressure to conform. These individuals value therapists who understand diverse identities beyond religion, embracing a broad cultural context while addressing mental health concerns, fostering well-being.

Each of us faces different challenges throughout our lives, and sometimes these challenges can start weighing down on us. They may begin to influence the way we think, feel, and live our lives. I believe that we can find it within ourselves to work towards the strength to face and process these challenges. I see therapy as a journey that can be meaningful in helping an individual make sense of and explore their unique experiences. I understand that being vulnerable can be difficult, so I prioritize providing a space that is judgment-free, culturally sensitive, and empathic

Life can sometimes make us feel overwhelmed, anxious or like we’re roaming without any sense of direction. It can be a struggle to gain traction and to figure out what is making us feel the emotions we do or behave the way we do. We can begin to lose sight of who we are and what our purpose is. If you feel "stuck", it can help to find a trusted professional who listens to your story and works with you to untangle the ball of emotions. All too often we focus on the negative things in life without much attention paid to what is going well. Balance in life is key, and once it's restored, positive change can occur.

Things happen. It is easy to get overwhelmed. Panic attacks, flashbacks, sadness and feelings of uncomfortable tension might become a part of everyday existence. Our attempts at coping help at first, then end up by compounding the pain. Worry, procrastination, excessive defensiveness, addictions or even perfectionism, are all examples of initially helpful coping strategies that backfire over time. We might worry about our problems daily, and yet remain unable to face them. Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) can help make sense of things.

Whether you are overwhelmed with stress and anxiety, drowning in low mood, tangled in conflictual relationships, battling with self-esteem and identity, struggling with cultural differences, or you just need someone to talk to, therapy is a safe space for you to find what you need to lead a healthier life. Have life's responsibilities become impossible to complete? Or do you have it altogether on the surface but don't seem to be happy and fulfilled?

I strongly believe that each client has the capability for recovery, acceptance, and wellness. As a therapist, my role is to provide a safe and compassionate space to process thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be preventing clients from being the best version of themselves. I am a client-led, trauma-informed practitioner and am warm, genuine, and collaborative. Some approaches I draw from are Attachment Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness practices and Self-Compassion. I also utilize an intersectional, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, anti-colonial and strengths-based approach.

Therapy shouldn't feel like a chore. While it might sometimes be hard to hear what is discussed in therapy, overall you should leave feeling like you've gained something useful or even transformative. Over time, you should feel you are getting stronger, more resilient and have shed layers of fear and anxiety. Of course this process can be overwhelming at times and you might not always progress on the timeframe that you thought you would, but when therapy goes well, you should feel more settled and more clear about your life. You should gain understanding about yourself and others and have a renewed sense of purpose and passion

Welcoming a new baby can be both rewarding and challenging, no matter how experienced you are as a parent. If you are feeling overwhelmed, sad, or just not yourself, you may be experiencing the effects of post-partum mood disorder (depression, anxiety, OCD, etc.). Many individuals suffer in silence, worried that their issues are not big enough. As a mother of three, I know we can all use a bit more help and support at times (and a lot more self compassion!). With specialized training in perinatal mental health and birth trauma, as well as grief and loss, my role is to help you through this journey.
