I am passionate about supporting people who struggle with substance use disorders and other addiction, ADHD , and PTSD.
Many of us have become masters in pretending that things are fine, when in reality our lives seem to be falling apart. Inside we feel like we’re drowning: overwhelmed by emotion, lost, & hopeless as we try to carry the burden of unresolved trauma, pain, & life’s curveballs hurled our way. Pushing aside these problems to get through each day to manage life’s responsibilities, we find ourselves numb, depressed, anxious, self-medicating, isolating, angry, & struggling with relationships. Together, we can work towards confronting unhealthy behaviours, understanding emotions, & healing from past trauma to create transformational change.

Are you different? So am I. I specialize in working with people who break the mold. This includes neuro-diverse adults ( ADHD , Autistic, C-PTSD), chronically ill, 2SLGBTQ, and racialized people. Focusing on resiliency and emotional intelligence, I use evidence-based practices and creative interventions to use the wounds of the past as seeds for growth. Adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and relationship fractures disrupt our feelings of safety and trust. In order to thrive, we need to heal.

I work with adults struggling with ADHD or attentional issues who are looking to simplify the way they engage in their daily activities. Adult ADHD can impact many aspects of life, with challenges ranging from scheduling and prioritizing time, organizing workspaces, filtering environmental stimuli, and regulating emotions. These difficulties can lead to feeling overwhelmed, always behind, and consistently disorganized. I help clients organize the chaos and engage in the activities they want to do, like to do, and/or are expected to do. No official ADHD diagnosis required. Please note I cannot complete diagnostic assessment.

I'm an RP and ADHD -Service Provider with extensive and diverse experience.
Is your life full of “too”? Too many questions, too few answers. Feeling, thinking, and doing too much or too little. Too critical of yourself and focused on others. I’ve encountered many with this “too”, but together we’ll uncover the root of your concerns and create long-term change. We can start working towards living authentically and managing concerns confidently; improving relationships with others, and healing your relationship with yourself. From day one, it’s possible to have meaningful exploration and find useful strategies in sessions that are engaging, practical, and effective.

My areas of specialty are Trauma, ADHD (in adults), Women's mental health around reproductive stories (including menopause) & Pregnancy or Infant loss (due to termination, miscarriage or postnatal loss).
I'm glad you're here & taking the first brave steps towards healing. I know it can be overwhelming at the beginning. But if you'll let me I'd really like to join you on your journey to feeling better about your life. My style is eclectic (using several methods) because I believe therapy should be tailored for every individual. I want to make your healing & self discover experience all about you, not a system. You're in charge of how fast we go, where we go & when you need to rest. I simply journey beside you as a trusted source of perspective & insight. Helping to reframe or see an issue from a different view point.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
