Life can quickly become so busy that everyday interactions become overwhelming obstacles, impacting your life in ways you may not even realize. I aim to create a safe, non judgemental space where you can explore your experiences and get support while improving self-compassion. I also support your ability to tune into the present, exploring your felt senses as messages that your body is communicating to you. When we develop the right skills and ability to acknowledge our emotions, what once felt overwhelming can become manageable.

Additionally, I work with individuals struggling with OCD, ADHD, and anxiety, and specialize in supporting people living with chronic pain and Scoliosis.
You’re an athlete, and you might perform well in practice but freeze in competition, constantly replay mistakes in your head, or feel like your confidence disappears the moment it matters most. Maybe your nerves take over before competitions, or you feel mentally exhausted trying to keep up with expectations from coaches, parents, teammates, or even yourself. Many athletes struggle silently with overthinking, fear of mistakes, self-doubt, perfectionism, anxiety, burnout, and pressure to perform.

Clarity is my hope for each person I see, whether we use Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Narrative approaches, EMDR, Mindfulness, yoga, polyvagal theory, or creative arts expression. Regardless if your struggle is with depression, anxiety, disordered eating, or trauma, clarity means a better awareness and understanding of yourself in the current situation. Knowing yourself allows you to make choices best for you, consciously. It can be challenging to unravel and understand all of the often conflicting messages we hear and give ourselves, but it is crucial. This is the work I will support and guide you in.

I am a Clinical and Health Psychologist especially interested in working with people with concerns related to: anxiety, mood, trauma, workplace issues, major life transitions, and adjustments to chronic health problems (e.g. chronic pain, IBS, substance use).
I integrate the principles of CBT, ACT, and humanistic psychology. The psychological skills I consider key to build in therapy include self-awareness (your ability to identify inner process), agency (your ability to make self-interested choices), and interderpendence (your ability to relate to others and co-exist in complex social systems).

Compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy. You don’t have to keep carrying this alone. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, therapy can be a place to finally exhale. Many clients come in navigating trauma, grief, loss, relationship challenges, burnout, postpartum changes, or major life transitions—often feeling disconnected or not like themselves. At LumenPath Psychotherapy, we offer a calm, supportive space to slow down, understand what you’re carrying, and begin to feel grounded again. We use EMDR, CBT, EFT, and other evidence-based approaches.

Do you struggle with finding your next step or worry that the plans you made are out of reach? You want to appear confident and joyful, but deep down you are struggling with stress, and wrestling with fatigue. You might not remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready to make a change. You’re ready to let go of guilt, self-doubt, and fear. Most of all, you want to live purposefully in the present.

Chronic Pain Counsellors
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophising, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
