Ever just feel stuck? Like, you need someone to actually listen, get what you’re going through, and not just brush it off? When your emotions go haywire, it’s like watching your life from the sidelines. Anger takes over. Anxiety hits hard. Depression has you stuck on the couch. Maybe your moods have pushed people away, and your job and relationships are at risk. The feelings of guilt and shame are real. Or the feelings are internal, like you are spiraling, and wondering, 'Will I ever feel normal again?' Life can feel completely out of control. But you don’t have to go through this alone.

Maybe you are quietly carrying more than anyone knows; cultural pressures, unspoken grief, emotional stuckness, or the weight of always appearing “fine.” Maybe you're navigating a major life shift or wrestling with questions of identity or belonging. My clients often don’t have the words at first- they just know they’re tired of holding it all alone. They’re not seeking quick fixes or surface-level solutions, but rather a steady, thoughtful space where they can feel truly seen, understood, and supported as they begin again- gently, one step at a time.

Each of us comes into this world with unique gifts and an individual perspective. When we are able to use our gifts to handle the stressors and challenges that enter our lives we are able to successfully cope with them. However, when we become overwhelmed by our circumstances to the point where our abilities to cope and enjoy life are affected, that is a sign that consulting a therapist can be useful. Taking that step and calling a therapist takes a lot of courage and it shows that you want to make a positive change in your life.

You may look capable and put-together, yet find yourself repeating the same relationship patterns. You understand your history. You’ve reflected. You may have even been in therapy before. And still, something hasn’t fully shifted. I work with insightful, high-functioning adults who want more than surface-level insight. Our focus is not just understanding why patterns exist, but creating meaningful, lasting change.

Accepting New Clients-Your life looks great on the outside. You have all the things that should make you happy but you don’t feel that way. You may be struggling with anxiety, unresolved past trauma, or relationship dissatisfaction. Maybe you've been using substances more than usual to cope with feeling overwhelmed, either on edge or just completely disconnected like you’re running on autopilot. You’re used to handling your own problems so it can be hard to ask for help. Other people don’t understand, they think you are fine.

You might look like you’re holding it together, but inside, you’re exhausted. Overthinking conversations. Feeling constantly on edge. Snapping more easily than you want to. Walking on eggshells or questioning whether your reactions are “too much.” I work with teens and adults struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, anger, ADHD, and painful relationship patterns. Many feel stuck in cycles of conflict, self-criticism, or emotional reactions they don’t fully understand. Together, we identify what’s driving these patterns and build practical tools to feel more grounded and in control.

Are you feeling lost and stuck? Do you believe that your "life compass" has stopped working and not sure how to navigate your life moving forward? Are you feeling unheard or having a hard time expressing how you feel at the moment? Do you believe that your unique traumatic experiences have taken away your resilience and ability to effectively cope without relying on temporary solutions which down the road may have contributed to confusing you more, and making your relationships more challenging? You are not alone if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges trauma has brought into your life.

If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’ve been holding a lot on your own. Maybe you’re high-functioning on the outside but exhausted on the inside. Maybe therapy hasn’t worked the way you hoped it would. Maybe your child, teen, or loved one is struggling and you don’t know what else to try. Or maybe you’re tired of being told to “cope better” when what you’re really longing for is safety, understanding, and real change. At Healing Recovery Centre, we believe you deserve a soft place to land — and more than one way to heal.

You’ve been feeling low. You’ve been more anxious than usual and are unsure why. Perhaps you have suffered a loss in your life and don’t know the “right way” to grieve, you just know that you want to feel better, but aren’t sure how to do that. Maybe you want to be the person you were before. Maybe you just need someone to talk to. We all go through challenges in life leaving us feeling stuck – confused, hurt, and unsure about how to move forward. Though your experiences as an individual are unique, I aim to help you feel that you are not alone on your journey, wherever you’re at in your life.

Feeling stuck between cultural expectations and your own needs can be exhausting. Many first- and second-generation Canadians I work with navigate anxiety, overthinking, and emotional overwhelm while balancing family pressure, cultural norms, or major life transitions. Growing up managing different worlds can create stress, self-doubt, and the sense that your own needs are being neglected. You may feel pulled in every direction and unsure how to prioritize yourself without guilt.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
