I always approach my clients in with an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, harm reduction framework. What does that mean? It means that I will always ask "what happened to you?" instead of asking "what's wrong with you?". It also means that I will always respect you as the expert in your own life. Finally, it means that I believe that everyone does their very best to survive and thrive each day–even on the days that we can't see any hope. I am here to be with you, even through the darkest of days, and help you find inspiration and hope within yourself.

We are a diverse team of over 90 licensed and experienced therapists! We believe that there is good in every person, and hope in every situation. We help individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and connect. As relational therapists, we appreciate the impact that our relationships have on our well-being. We do not see clients as having something wrong with their heads that need to be fixed. Rather, we see our clients as unique individuals, each with their own stories and perspectives, embedded in important relationships and contexts that impact them. We see strengths and we see hope, even when it feels like there is none.

I believe our past, environment, genetics, and culture uniquely shape who we are and how we experience the world. To honour this uniqueness, I offer personalized support—rather than making assumptions, I meet each client with respect, validation, and understanding, emphasizing compassion and care in order to promote security and openness. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, to be heard, and to have their value within society affirmed. Regardless of someone’s circumstances, I aim to look beyond the surface and recognize their strengths and resilience, even when these are hidden beneath layers of hurt, pain, and suffering.

It is a direction not a destination.” As a psychotherapist, couple and family therapist, I look forward to joining you on your life journey. Together, we will uncover the life processes as they unfold, transforming them into the strengths and growth that will shape your future. We are living in extremely challenging times - witnessing the rise of fascism, genocides, war, displacement, and climate change. For BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, women, people with mental health issues, and others of marginalized identities, it is exhausting to exist in this colonial & capitalist world. These systems were not built for us. They constantly extract from us and undermine our worth. It is important to know that you matter and deserve to be heard in a space that does not blame you for not doing or being enough. I support people of marginalized identities & allies to process their grief, honour their rage, and heal their wounds.

When you feel like you are drowning, flailing your arms and legs in every direction just to survive, it may be a sign that it is time to seek support. When life becomes overwhelming and it feels like you can no longer keep yourself afloat, you should not have to go through it alone – I am here to be your life jacket, offering stability, safety, and compassion through the storm. Over time, therapy can help you learn to swim with confidence, as you work to understand yourself more deeply, cultivate self-compassion and self-love, and improve your relationships, including by identifying your needs and establishing healthy boundaries.

Psychosis Counsellors
What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.

When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.

What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.

How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
