My areas of interest and experience includes working with individuals and couples, particularly teens and young adults, supporting them as they navigate
anger
, anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship challenges.
Does the idea of counselling seem uncomfortable? Life brings challenges that are difficult to face alone, but they can be hard to talk about. Having a safe place where you can navigate these challenges is important. We can all benefit from having someone truly listen to and support us. I desire to highlight the strengths that each client possesses and help as you see your world through a different lens.

There may be times when your stress interferes with what you want in your life. You may be experiencing a mix of anxiety, panic, burnout, physical pain, sadness,
anger
or frustration with others and/or yourself. You may have noticed a pattern you're unhappy with or a specific situation that replays in your mind. The stress you're experiencing may be related to a difficult time in your past, your present, including injury, health anxiety, work or sport performance, anticipating the future, or a combination. It's not easy to reach out for help, so taking action by contacting a professional is you being courageous!

We will make sense of difficult feelings such as anxiety,
anger
, or sadness, that might otherwise isolate or overwhelm you.
Everyone experiences emotional pain and may feel anxious or depressed at different times in life. During these times, it is comforting to know that someone is there to listen and hold your heart with care, kindness and sensitivity. Deciding to work with a psychotherapist and somatic practitioner is a courageous step towards understanding yourself and getting to the roots of what may be troubling you. I will see you, perhaps in ways that you've never been seen, and we will make sense of your patterns and struggles, and help you work through the layers of your life to see the beauty that exists within you.

My areas of focus include helping people who have difficulties with daily stress, worry, anxiety,
anger
, depression, social fears, panic attacks, poor sleep, time-management issues, career challenges and occupational burnout.
Beginning therapy for many is difficult, especially when worried, feeling down, or stressed. Addressing what is contributing to our thoughts and feelings in therapy can lead to truly remarkable results. These may include improving how we feel, developing the ability to cope more effectively with life’s challenges, and enhancing one’s quality of life. As a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Ontario, Canada, I have a great appreciation of how our own experiences influence and affect us over time.

Children of immigrants have the unique experience of being brought up in a different country than their parents. Due to the cultural contrasts, you may have different values from your family as well. Confusion, guilt, and
anger
are just a few feelings that children of immigrants go through, while trying to balance their inner and outer worlds. Your complex feelings and experiences may create issues related to anxiety, depression, or stress which can be difficult to navigate on your own. However, with therapy you do not have to take on these challenges alone.

Are you that person who is struggling in silence? Are you jumping from one worry to the next? This doesn’t stop you from getting most things done most of the time, however, at the end of the day you are depleted. When you’re feeling overwhelmed the first thing you want to do is be alone. You are an over thinker, a perfectionist and need to feel in control. You find yourself getting irritated more and more. Recognizing how the wave of
anger
rushed through you, you feel regret and frustrated for getting so worked up.

Hi! I am so glad that you are here. The decision to begin therapy is often the first step towards positive change, improved relationships and feeling better. Are you moving into new roles and responsibilities and finding it difficult to cope? Have you been impacted by something painful and feel you need a place to process this? Do you have a child or teen with anxiety, ADHD,
anger
, or OCD and want to arm them with skills to crush these issues? Could you use an expert opinion on what you’re going through, or a non-judgemental ear just to listen? If you answered yes to any of the above, therapy together may be a wonderful fit for you!

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
