There are times in life when things feel heavy, confusing, or difficult to manage alone. Therapy can offer a steady space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and feel supported as you work through it. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when you feel safe, understood, and accepted without judgment. Together, we explore what may be keeping you stuck, notice unhelpful patterns, and build practical tools to support emotional clarity and everyday coping.

Welcome to Therapy Heals! I take an open-minded, warm, and collaborative approach to therapy. I am naturally curious and enjoy getting to know the person behind the concerns they are bringing into therapy. Rather than making assumptions, I take the time to listen, ask questions, and explore experiences together—including the messy, complicated, and sometimes uncomfortable parts. I am also mindful of how culture, family values, and expectations can shape the way we see ourselves and our relationships, and welcome clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

I support high-achieving individuals who want to feel more focused, grounded, and emotionally steady in work and life. Many come feeling overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, low in mood, or impacted by trauma-related experiences including PTSD or life transitions. Often, they appear successful outwardly but feel stuck or under pressure internally. In our work, we identify unhelpful patterns and build practical evidence based strategies to restore clarity, confidence, and motivation. I use SFBT,ACT and CBT. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and practice under clinical supervision.

I help individuals and couples break unhelpful patterns and feel more secure, confident, and connected in themselves and their relationships. If you’re stuck in the same arguments, questioning your relationship, or feeling emotionally distant even though you care deeply, you’re not alone. You might be dealing with resentment, fights that never get resolved, relationship anxiety, baggage from past relationships, or feeling overwhelmed and unsure how to move forward. From the outside, things may look “fine,” but inside, it feels heavy and exhausting.

Hey! I’m Patricia - a psychotherapist who often supports the people who are used to holding it all together for others while they quietly run on empty. You might be the person everyone turns to for support, the over-thinker whose brain never seems to switch off, or someone navigating difficult life transitions, relationship challenges, health concerns, or questions about who you are and where you're headed. Maybe you've spent so much time taking care of everyone else that you've lost touch with what you need. Part of you wants to open up, and part of you isn’t sure what to say, or if therapy could help.

Life is full of highs and lows. While we may need very little help to maneuver through the highs, there are certain lows that may leave us feeling "stuck", "tired", or just plain "drained". The goal of therapy is to provide clients with a safe place where they can explore and process their thoughts and emotions in an effort to work through challenging issues in a fully confidential and non-judgemental environment. As a result, clients are able to heal from the issues that are holding them back, and they can begin to thrive with more ease. Life's lows become more manageable and less bothersome. Life's highs become more enjoyable!

I understand how exhausting it can feel to constantly put pressure on yourself to succeed while trying to keep up with everything life asks of you. You may find yourself overthinking, feeling overwhelmed, or wondering if you’re doing enough. I also understand that major life transitions, whether it’s graduating, starting a new career, moving forward after a relationship ends, or figuring out what comes next, can bring a lot of uncertainty. Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to have everything figured out.

I work with adults navigating Complex PTSD and the effects of ongoing or repeated trauma. Many of my clients experience relationship and attachment challenges, boundary difficulties, people-pleasing or fawn responses, and attachment injuries. Others rely heavily on thinking or intellectualizing emotions as a way of coping. I also support individuals and couples experiencing high-conflict patterns, as well as those living with chronic pain or health-related stress. My work is experiential and exercise-based, using somatic awareness and therapeutic exercises to support regulation, awareness, and mind–body integration over time.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether your therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

What are the advantages of seeing a female therapist?
Many people - not just women - prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. Women who see a female therapist may also feel freer to discuss challenges that are closely tied to gender, such as life transitions including motherhood or menopause. Some clients who instinctively feel more comfortable disclosing to women may find it easier to broach sensitive subjects with a female therapist. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Is therapy different for men and women?
Therapy can be different for men and women insofar as gender plays a role in the challenges an individual faces and the events in life an individual has experienced. Women often face different expectations from their families, friends, and society than men do. In some cases, women might feel most comfortable expressing themselves differently from how men do. Talking about one's feelings and emotions is a critical part of most therapies, and some women might find it comes more naturally when talking to a female therapist. Ultimately, though, therapeutic treatment should be tailored to the individual's specific needs.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK - even encouraged! - to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
