In Person Therapists in Madoc, ON
I offer psychotherapy in-person and virtually.
Living in a rural community, I have learned to be adaptive in my approach to psychotherapy. I work with couples and individuals, varying in age from 12 onward, across many domains. My special interests lean toward working with clients who are neurodiverse, and those who struggle in their relationship with food and body, anxiety and self-esteem. I don't think of 'wellness' as prescriptive- it must be a feeling of security and peace that we develop and hold within ourselves. That's why my philosophy of care includes setting a pace that fits your needs and helping you develop your own feelings of empowerment and self-growth.

Change can be tough and constant. Sometimes we adjust with ease but other times we find ourselves feeling stuck. Life can get in the way from where we desire to be. Fear of change can lead us into feeling guarded, hurt or even resentful. Do you feel like you are moving through the motions of life and not actually experiencing your life to the fullest? Ruminating on the “what ifs”? Disconnecting from the present waiting for the other shoe to drop? What if you tapped into the courage within you to lean into these moments? What if I told you that you deserve moments of joy; you deserve to experience the best in your life.

I offer therapy sessions in person and online via video call.
Maybe you’ve tried to fix things, communicate differently, or give more—but nothing seems to change. You replay conversations, question yourself, and wonder if you’re asking for too much or not enough.
Sometimes the pain isn’t just about what’s happening now. Old wounds—feeling unseen, rejected, or not valued—can quietly shape how relationships feel today. This can leave you stuck in patterns that are hard to break on your own.
I work with adults who are struggling in close relationships—whether it’s with a partner, family, or within themselves. This includes experiences of rejection, distance, betrayal, and emotional disconnection

You think differently — and that's not a problem to fix. It's an edge to build on.
Maybe you're a professional with big ideas that get overlooked in traditional structures. Maybe you're a leader who's been told you're "too much" or "not focused enough." Or maybe you're ready for a role that actually works with your brain, not against it.
That's where I come in.

I work with youth and adults who often feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stuck in patterns that are hard to shift alone. Many clients describe carrying a lot internally, even if they appear to be coping on the outside.
People often come to therapy when stress, worry, grief, or relationship difficulties begin to feel heavier or harder to manage. Others are navigating life transitions or emotional ups and downs that feel confusing or exhausting. Many have been trying to manage on their own for a long time and are looking for a space where they can feel understood, supported, and not alone in what they are experiencing.

You may be carrying a constant sense of worry, sadness, self-doubt, or exhaustion. Perhaps your mind never seems to slow down, you're struggling to find motivation, or you feel emotionally flat and disconnected from yourself, others, or the things that once mattered to you.
Living with anxiety or depression can be isolating. Even simple tasks can feel overwhelming, and it can be difficult to explain what you're experiencing to the people around you. You may find yourself caught in patterns of overthinking, self-criticism, avoidance, or feeling trapped by old stories about who you are and what you're capable of.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.
When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.
How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
