As a clinical Social Worker, I provide a safe space for individuals to open up about their challenges, utilizing a variety of therapeutic strategies and interventions to help elevate people's lives so they can have better opportunities to live an authentic and fulfilling life. My lived experiences are incorporated into my clinical work to support others in connecting “head to heart” in challenging and dismantling the many social constructs people often feel they need to uphold. As you begin to lean into the vulnerability of speaking your truth, the awakening journey begins.

Life can be really challenging. Family dynamics and difficult personalities can make you feel like you’re reliving painful moments from the past. Being a parent, or trying to become one, can bring heartache and frustration. Infertility, loss, illness and anxiety can make life feel heavy, difficult, and rid you of vitality. This is where I come in to help. I can take you to better places. Healing doesn’t mean the pain never existed; it means the pain no longer controls our lives. I will create a space where you will feel safe and unconditionally supported to explore your thoughts, feelings, and worries, without judgement.

*New clients welcome!* Adulting can be hard and life can feel very dark at times. Navigating relationships, work, parenting, and day-to-day stress is enough in itself; add in childhood trauma and negative self-talk, and in time you are left feeling helpless and asking yourself, “how did I/we get here?”. You want to feel better and do better but despite your best shot you just can’t figure it out. I get it! I offer individual and couples therapy where you will have the opportunity to heal, resest, and move forward in the way you've been dreaming of.

I believe we all dream to live lives of more and lives of less. More: happiness, peace, joy, health, achieving meaningful goals, and joy in relationships. The opposite is also true, we seek lives with less. Less: stress, illness, negativity, pain, bad relationship habits, trauma, anger, and disconnection. Are you one of millions of 1st generation Canadians trapped between 2 worlds? Is it time to create your own life? Do you experience Anxiety, depression, maternal loss/fertility struggles, growing up "fine but feeling empty", or loveless parenting--all of which can hold you back or instill panic. Small steps can feel overwhelming.

Taking New Clients! We all strive to be happy. But some days life can feel so overwhelming its hard to breathe. We may feel anxious, sad or frustrated, and it's hard to cope with day to day challenges. Our feelings can impact our relationships with our family, our ability at work, or time with our friends. They may cause self-doubt, social issues and health concerns. Often we have no idea where these feelings are coming from. We just know we are hurting. But to effectively address these feelings we need to have a better understanding of what's causing the difficulties.

Sometimes, despite the love we have for our family, it seems that we struggle to have peace within our relationships at home. In supporting families to make the changes they are seeking, I utilize Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) which focuses on restructuring parent and child interactions. I always look at every situation through the lens of being trauma-informed and understanding the role of attachment.

Negative events or stressful experiences can interfere with how you are feeling about yourself and your relationships with others. When your mood feels up and down and you are under deep stress, it is hard to see a way out. When your past troubles you and impacts your present (and you fear the future) it can be devastating. You want to feel better, lighter, and like you've moved "past your past". You want a full life that feels easier than the one you're living. You want to be a better parent, partner, friend and family member. I completely understand, and I can help.

Do you feel “stuck” in the past or mentally “time travelling” to the future? Are you unsure of your life’s purpose in the present? Do you find yourself caught in patterns of negative and intrusive thoughts? Do you lack self-esteem or feel disconnected from your true power and potential? You want to feel settled and present, but you can't seem to get there. You've tried other approaches and they haven’t worked. I believe that all people are naturally resilient and have the innate capacity to heal their mind, body, and spirit, regardless of how disconnected or far away this feels.

I strive to create a warm, trusting space to assist you in your healing process. I work with children, youth, and adults. As a child, and later in adulthood, we go through situations that can cause stress, anxiety and sadness. Children are far more capable than folks tend to give them credit for. When given the space to feel safe to discuss their emotions, it is evident that the meaning behind a child’s unknown behaviours are often rooted in trauma, attachment difficulties and understanding their own identity. Therapy can allow children the opportunity to express their emotions through different types of talk and play therapy.

Professionally I have supported individuals with highly complex needs for 25 years. This has ranged from assessment and treatment of moderate to severely challenging behaviours and specialized services for people with mental health challenges, dual diagnosis, learning challenges, acquired brain injury and post-concussion rehabilitation and counselling. In my experience it is essential to first understand individuals as unique individuals irregardless of their label or challenges and develop a trusting relationship. In this context difficulties can be discussed openly and change and growth can occur.

How can I find a therapist in London?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

How much does therapy cost?

Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $300 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
