With 12 years of experience providing counselling to a diverse adult population (18+) I have witnessed how difficult it can be to take those first steps to seek help, and also the relief that comes after having done so. When we are struggling with anxiety, difficult relationships or high stress levels it can be hard to see what one is in need of. As your therapist I will provide a warm, authentic, and encouraging space to be curious about what is causing you to struggle and work to find ways to help you cope with what life throws at us.

My approach is relational, collaborative, and rooted in curiosity. I draw from evidence-based approaches like cognitive-behavioral, emotionally-focused, attachment-based, and narrative therapies, and I always tailor our work to fit your personal story and goals.

I support teens and young adults with anxiety/depression, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and life transitions.
Accepting clients this week! You’re trying to keep it together, but it still feels like a lot. Maybe your mood swings fast, anxiety won’t shut off, or you go quiet when things get overwhelming. You might compare yourself to everyone online, feel behind in life, or carry a constant “not good enough” feeling. Big changes; school, friendships, family stress, moving, breakups, can make it worse. I work with teens and young adults who feel anxious, low, or stuck. And I know starting therapy can feel like a big first step. We’ll go at your pace.

There may be times that you don’t have the relationships you wanted or envisioned for yourself. Sometimes the relationship you may struggle with the most is the one you have with yourself. Feelings and emotions, even the seemingly small ones, can become very heavy and can leave you feeling unloved or unlovable, unworthy, and possibly with a distorted view of yourself. You may even feel as though you have no control of your life and powerless to change it. Working together, we can explore what are causing things to be this way; tapping into your strengths and set you on a path to have the relationships you want and deserve.

The smile you wear everyday on the outside is wearing you down on the inside. You've accomplished a lot, yet you still feel like you're coming up short. At the root of your anxiety is a familiar sense that you're not good enough unless you make something of yourself. It pushes you to excel at work, but it riddles you with doubt in your relationships and makes it hard to be honest about how you feel. You hold your feelings back from the people you love because you don't want to burden them. So you keep your struggles to yourself. This is the way it's always been, but you're reaching a breaking point.

I support people with improving communication, emotion-regulation skills, coping skills & self-esteem; setting boundaries; anxiety & depression; processing emotions & experiences (including discrimination); exploring one's strengths, skills, identity, gender & sexuality; navigating many kinds of family relationships, including non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships.
Though I'm neurodivergent myself, I claim no expertise in this area yet. I am late-realized & late-diagnosed, so I'm still learning how to view the world differently & cope in new ways. That being said, if understanding your neurodivergence is not your primary reason for counselling, but is part of your wellness journey, I may be a good fit for you.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
