Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists in London, ON

Clinical expertise working with those who have experienced 'broken mothering,' as well as professionals working in healthcare, and Adult children of narcissistic parents.
I believe we all dream to live lives of more and lives of less. More: happiness, peace, achieving meaningful goals, and joy in relationships. The opposite is also true, we seek lives with less. Less: stress, negative coping, anger, and disconnection. Are you one of millions of new Canadians trapped between 2 worlds? Is it time to create your own life? Do you experience anxiety, depression, or relationship issues that never seem to change; growing up "fine but feeling empty", or loveless parenting, do you want to change how you parent your own child--all of which can hold you back or instill panic. Small steps can feel overwhelming.

I work from an existential and humanistic lens, with a focus on trauma, relationship dynamics, and the lasting effects of narcissistic or emotionally immature parents.
Many of the people I work with are trying to answer difficult questions about identity, trust, and how to move forward after years of feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. I help clients make sense of complicated inner worlds—shaped by trauma, attachment wounds, and long-standing family dynamics—through deep, reflective work. Whether you're in crisis or simply aware that something needs to change, our work will begin by understanding what's brought you here. I truly believe that everyone deserves to be heard in a way that reflects their own understanding of their unique experiences.

Anxiety, Panic, Obsessive Thoughts - these experiences can make you feel helpless and alone. Having provided counselling and therapy for over 12 years, I have seen how common the experience of having “anxiety about the anxiety” is. I am passionate about helping people to understand how anxiety/mood issues operate, the grip they form on you, and how to begin to heal. I am also dedicated to helping those who suspect they are struggling with a narcissist in their life. I strive to help clients understand how this negative pattern of behaviour is impacting them and how to start protecting themselves.

You’re holding it together on the outside, but inside it’s a different story. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just plain stuck. Sometimes, you don’t need advice—you just need someone to talk to who really listens. In therapy, there’s no pressure to have it all figured out. We slow things down, explore what’s really going on, and make space for your emotions—messy, loud, quiet, or confusing. We’ll unpack what’s been weighing you down and gently move toward what brings you relief, clarity, and purpose. If you're ready for real conversations and meaningful change, I’m here for it.

Amidst a decades-long career in mental health, social work, and nursing, I’ve come to learn that while we all struggle, having someone to listen, to talk to, to navigate the tough stuff with…it makes a big difference. Hello, and welcome. My name is Christine Loop.
I help individuals and couples navigate emotional challenges and relationship struggles. There are patterns in our behaviours and relationships, and our need for understanding and connection sometimes gets lost in complex dynamics. It can feel overwhelming, exhausting and definitely confusing.

Everyone’s story matters. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to begin the process of unpacking and understanding your own story. Perhaps your story is just beginning and you’re struggling to figure out who you are, who you want to be, what's most important to you. Perhaps your story has left you with a negative sense of self and unfulfilling relationships that seem to continually let you down. Or perhaps your story has left you feeling ineffective, overwhelmed and insecure. My ideal clients are motivated to write new chapters in their lives, and it's my sincere honour to be able to support them on their journey.

My practice focuses on the psychological treatment for clients across the lifespan. Presenting issues include anxiety, depression, challenges with emotions, trauma, and relationship issues. I have over twenty years of experience as a clinical psychologist working within the London community. In recent years, I have had the pleasure of expanding my practice to include clinical associates who have advanced training in child clinical and school psychology. My approach is integrative, but I do strongly respect the role of emotions and attachment in understanding difficulties and promoting healing.

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.
How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.
Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.
How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
